Either the obvious stuff, or more obscure pulls, what are some of your favorite calls? Watching a lot of OSW Reviews the last couple of days, so it's been on my mind.
Starting with an obscure one, on ECW Heatwave '98, Masato Tanaka gives Mike Awesome an Awesomebomb over the top ropes to a table on the outside. Reckless as hell, not a fan, but did garner a strong reaction from Shane Douglas, who was sitting in on commentary due to injury. He just lets out this very visceral sound of a mixture of concern, disgust, and shock, something like, "AHHHOUGHHHHGHhhh!"
I do not like Shane, or find him very entertaining, but it really put an exclamation point on the moment.

It's cliche, but "CLIMB THE LADDER, KID. MAKE YOURSELF FAMOUS" was the moment a star was born, in my opinion.

Michael Cole for all his detractors has some classics when it comes to guys winning their first world title.
Mankind, Eddie, Rey, Mark Henry and Bryan, all outstanding calls.

For a more standard answer, Bobby Heenan calling Goldberg defeating Hulk Hogan is just... it's electric.
"THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
He sells it every bit as someone who has wanted to see Hogan destroyed not just since WWF, but as Madison's pointed out before, a feud that dates back to Hogan versus Bockwinkel in AWA. Heenan had lost a step in WCW, but this is perhaps the best work of his career, the festering resentment giving way to jubilation.

"God as my witness, he's broken in half...." to this day is the greatest call ever.

I also love the sign off to that Nitro by Tony. “Good night everybody! Goldberg’s the Champ!”. In these big babyface moments, which were rare due to WCW’s own choosing, there announce team made you feel like you had just watched your favorite team win the Super Bowl.

“Hook the leg, Hook the leg, hook the leg, oh my god!!” Seriously, Callis calling the Dominion Okada/Omega match is a thing of pure beauty. It’s Heenan calling Rumble 92 levels of awesome to me.

JR once described something as “colder than a mother in law’s embrace” which is a description I try to break out whenever possible.

My personal favorite is a Jim Ross call from a previous survivor series, when Shawn Michaels managed to make it a one on one match despite being out manned three men to one. Still he got beaten thanks to outside interference, and Jim Ross gave one of the most incredibly (kayfabe) poignant calls of his life when he said “Shawn Michaels did everything a human being could do to win this match… But it wasn’t enough”

Pretty much anything Jim Ross has done. I enjoy Gorilla, Jesse and Bobby Heenan for their amazing work but Jim Ross's passion and belief in the wrestlers, matches and storylines just shows above and beyond. I would love for Jim to get involved with commentating on TV shows like Law & Order with plot twists where he can go "bah gawd" and give his take on what we're seeing on the show.

Question for older posters who grew up watching the territories: I could be wrong but it seems to me that the idea of the big sports call announcing is a direct result of most big moments happening on PPV or prime time television as opposed to the houses. So guys like Lance Russell or Bob Caudle weren't in the business of doing big calls a la Jack Buck, they were trying to get over that you need to come see the live shows. Is this incorrect?

Speaking of Orton, a great Cole line from the Hell In A Cell match at Armageddon 2005: "There is really no question that this match lived up to its name, 'Hell In A Cell:' Randy Orton came to play in the Devil's Playground, and Randy Orton lost."

Michael Cole: Mankind has achieved his dream, and the dream of everybody who's been told you can't do it! vintage Cole The call, the moment. Cole is a complete company shill these days, but aside from “As God as my witness, he is broken in half!” and “WHAT DID I JUST SEE?!?!”, it is the great wrestling call and moment.
