Okay I have zero memory of this Bezerker/Undertaker feud and seeing a sword is involved that’s saying something and I watched this show very week as a kid was it a short lived feud? Relatively, yeah. Pretty much they established his new babyface run post-WM by having him work short programs with various established heels, the longest of which was probably with Kamala. I remember Kamala I remember Nailz but I don’t remember Bezerker child me must have repressed that memory.

Yeah, it was a house show thing. Like Warrior/Shango turned out to be. Then they changed everything come SummerSlam. 1991-92 was the Cartoon Hardcore era of WWF. More violent, scary angles, but in the sense that Optimus Prime dying, or Duke dyingbeing put in a coma from a snake staff was violent and scary. You had.... - Hulk being burned by Sarge. - Warrior being locked in the casket. - Warrior, then Savage, being attacked by a cobra. - Mountie shocking his victims, then attempted electrocution when he shocked a wet Bret Hart. - Damian being killed by Earthquake. - Said sword attack. - Nailz (who you can totally see the 2018 version of NOW, RIGHT HERE ON FAN) assaulting Bossman.

They started toning it down after the Nailz attack, probably because of the scandals. Outside of Doink beating down Crush, Duggan getting crushed by Yoko, or IRS ripping up Tatanka's headdress and sticking it in his mouth, they REALLY went in a lighter direction in 92-95.

Amazing how many babyface promos include thanking the fans. The May 2nd 1992 episode had that as the crux of Virgil, Tito and Slaughter's promos.

I remember being in the hospital, after having my shunt replaced, and my mom (probably reluctantly), watching Superstars, with me, because I always watched it, with my brother. (He called, and we had a conversation during the episode, so it was still watching together). For a scary moment in my life, that's one of my favorite.

Is the issue of "Superstars of Wrestling" just the one guy that now owns it? I'm very surprised WWE hasn't paid him off, as the money they'd make off of the footage would surely outweigh it.

I think I’m on the 4th episode from Kentucky Three episodes 99% of the time, plus dark matches for the live crowd and stuff for Prime Time Wrestling and Coliseum Video. They taped four episodes at the Syracuse, NY taping (5-9, 5-16, 5-23, 5-30). They would often have around 3 dozen matches in one night over about 4-5 hours.

I realized to late for this weekend but early enough for next that I can start to recreate the Saturdays of 10 year old Milkman Norm. Watch Superstars in the morning and WCW Saturday Night in the evening. I just need to make sure to have Kraft Mac and Cheese in the interim.

So I'm absolutely loving these, and for a one-hour show it's telling how long so many feuds are active.
I'm at mid-June and these are all concurrent feuds that have been on-going the entire time.
Randy Savage vs Ric Flair Papa Shango vs Ultimate Warrior Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels Undertaker vs The Berzerker Tatanka vs Rick Martel Repo Man vs British Bulldog Legion of Doom vs Beverly Brothers Nasty Boys vs High Energy The Mountie vs Sgt Slaughter Big Boss Man vs Nailz

June 13th 1992 episode is going all in on the WBF promotion. McMahon can’t stop mentioning the “big” WBF Championship show airing that evening.

On the sidenote of the WBF, I love how Vince repeatedly insists that it and the WWF were steroid-free at the time, which becomes hilarious in light of the steroid trials that would happen a couple of years later.

You know there's something to be said for these short bite size matches made to highlight wrestlers. Jobber matches in this style should totally still be a thing. I always preferred WWF squash matches over wcw ones cause wcw had such pathetic and terrible jobbers and you’d go 6 months in between good squash matches. At what point? Because the NWA World Championship Wrestling era had great job guy like George South, Mike Jackson and the Italian Stallion.

The trial was about things that happened earlier. The guys known for steroids noticeably lost muscle or were out the door by mid-1992.

Its an oversimplification with exceptions on both sides but NWA and WWF seemed to have different philosophies for squash guys. The former was willing to have jobbers that were absolute slobs and/or out of shape, presumably to make their own talent look even better by comparison. WWF by contrast had certainly plain and unassuming looking people, but tended towards enhancement talent that was somewhat in shape and looked like they could be actual recurring talent with a few more trips to the gym and a tan. Presumably the idea there was superstars would seem more impressive going over the equivalent to minor league talent rather than schmucks hired off the street. Neither approach is really wrong, its all a matter of one's tastes's and how well the individual match is executed.

Also let me add, there was time episode (86-88ish) that the NWA had a lot of jobbers be neutral, neither a face nor heel. For example the Mulky Brothers could be jobbers to the face Rock n Roll Express one week, and the next week be jobbers tot he heel Midnight Express.

Those guys were good but they were a rarity but when you got a 2 hour show those 3 guys aren’t on every week wrestling every match your left with a ton of horrid jobbers. NWA WCW from 85 thru 88 is not a good show its 2 hours of poor squash matches,Paul Jones getting multiple promos a show and just bad promos are the norm sure you’ll get the occasional good Flair or Dusty promo but alot of times their just talking for the sake of talking. When something exciting is shown it’s from Worldwide or Main Event. If we’re lucky we’ll get a ricky santana vs Thunderfoot #2 main event and if we actually get a decent main event it goes 90 seconds before the show goes off the air and is never mentioned again
