The big question is if they'll finally make a live-action Kylie Griffin in this movie. If they'd made this 20 years ago, I'd have fought somebody to have Eliza Dushku as Kylie. I was actually thinking Krysten Ritter for Kylie. Tone down her Jessica Jones a bit, give her a supernatural fascination, I think it could work. She certainly looks the part.

I am aware I am in the minority as far as not even liking the first one, but this franchise has existed for decades and produced one movie with any kind of positive public and critical consensus. I know everything these days has to be a reboot or building on an existing IP, but it's not exactly had a high rate of output, or a good win percentage. Without either of those things, I really don't understand why studios keep going back to this week. Do they even make that much money?

My biggest issue with the leads was Jones because she only ever plays “fat sassy black woman from the street. With attitude, cause she’s black and from the street” and that’s blatantly how they wrote that character. Don’t care much for her on SNL either, because she always gets stuck doing that same schtick. I’d honestly never heard of her or Kate McKinnon prior to the remake since the Lonely Island music videos are the only parts of SNL I’ve seen in the past 15 years, so I guess my opinion is going to be different. But I can totally see why the “sassy black lady” thing could be annoying, especially if you see the same actress doing it over and over again. That’s kinda the same reason I’m not a Melissa McCarthy fan, because a lot of her movies look like she’s doing a lame Chris Farley tribute act.Thing is, I know she can do much more than that. But like I said...either she's oblivious to everyone considering it a plus size minstrel show, or just thinks she's being funny and accepts the same schtick.

I have heard a lot of good things about "Can You Ever Forgive Me?" I haven't seen it, though I wanted to. I will check it out.

Like last time I'll withhold if i'm going to see it until an actual trailer comes out.
But as a huge fan of the series I'm glad the reboot fiasco didn't completely kill it.
Also hope they are more realistic with the budget The huge budget and marketing blitz for the reboot pretty much assured even if it was more well recieved than it was it was never going to make its money back.

I think the big question is, will The AVGN make a pointless video declaring he refuses to watch this?

I think the big question is, will The AVGN make a pointless video declaring he refuses to watch this? That video wasnt pointless. He was very well known to be a huge Ghostbusters fan, and viewers were hounding him about his thoughts on the reboot for months as a result. He finally just did a video explaining why he isn't talking about the movie and why he won't be reviewing it. Never once in the video did he say anything mean about the movie or those involved. He calmly and reasonably explained his love for the originals and said that because of that, he's just not interested in a reboot and knows he'd be biased against it if he tried. Then of course, the internet labeled him a sexist and Patton Oswalt of all people attacked him for no reason. I'm not even an AVGN fan, but I went out of my way to watch the video and never once did he say anything that should or could have been taken offensively.

I always found that video hilarious because of how redundant it is. It's like 5 minutes for a message of "I don't want to spend money on something I feel I'm gonna hate." The whole "I Refuse" title and everything felt like someone put a gun to his head and bought him opening night tickets. I don't know, just funny to me.

On the subject of Ghostbusters, do you think the film got Rick Moranis typecast as a nerd? Save for Dark Helmet, almost every major role he had after that was as a glasses-wearing nerd.

It's dead. let it rest in peace. The Ghostbusters IP has been very much alive and well in Comics for a long time. Yeah I’m surprised by these comments. Granted not everyone was a fan of the remake, but ghostbusters IP is very much alive. Just this year they launched their own Pokémon Go type game, Over the past 35 years there’s been 3 movies, 2 cartoons, a toy series, a hit song, a drink, comic books and video games. Then there’s the ghost corps that dress up and go ghost buster themed events all through out the country. Then every Halloween there’s new kids that dress up as ghost busters, and the song and movie are played a ton. Should there be a new movie? Maybe... Maybe not. But this IP isn’t going away any time soon.

Recently, Ernie Hudson implied the original Ghostbusters are back, and Harold Ramis is there in spirit: www.joblo.com/horror-movies...he-original-ghostbusters-are-back-in-new-filmERNIE HUDSON IMPLIES THAT THE ORIGINAL GHOSTBUSTERS ARE BACK IN NEW FILM 16 hours ago by: Cody Hamman The announcement that Jason Reitman will be directing a new GHOSTBUSTERS film that follows the original GHOSTBUSTERS and GHOSTBUSTERS II (which were directed by his father Ivan Reitman) rather than the 2016 reboot has stirred up a lot of excitement, although it's still not clear what role, if any, the surviving original Ghostbusters (Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Ernie Hudson) will be playing in the movie. There is some hope that all three OG GBs will be showing up in it, since this is presumably the same project Aykroyd was talking about last November, when he mentioned during an interview with Dan Rather that there was "a possibility of a reunion with the three remaining Ghostbusters" and a script was in the works. Now Hudson has raised hopes further. Asked about the new project by DailyMailTV, Hudson said that he misses late Ghostbuster Harold Ramis, but his spirit is there. But Ivan Reitman is there and everybody is in." That definitely makes it sound like Aykroyd, Murray, and Hudson will all be appearing in the new movie. But it's not really clear when DailyMailTV actually spoke to Hudson - was it after the Reitman announcement, or around the time of the Dan Aykroyd interview? The uncertainty comes from this quote: Now whether the studio will do it, I'm the guy who sits by the phone and waits for the call. So if they call, I'll answer. If not, I've got other stuff that I'm doing." Obviously, at this point it's very clear that Sony does intend to make this movie. They're already announced a summer 2020 release and put a teaser trailer online (you can see that below). With the film expected to go into production this summer, Hudson should have receieved his phone call by now. If he hasn't yet, I suspect he will soon. Jason Reitman has written the script for the new GHOSTBUSTERS with MONSTER HOUSE's Gil Kenan and is currently seeking to cast four teenagers (two boys and two girls) who play an important role in the story.

For f***'s sake the first one isn't even that good. I watched it a few years ago and definitely had a "I remember it being much better than this..." reaction. It's a fun little movie but when people are like "It's the greatest comedy of all-time and the foundation of my childhood", I definitely back away slowly with a "You do you, bruv" reaction.

I really should try making the time to actually see the first one at some point. Never actually have. Kind of meant to watch the reboot first then the original (mostly so the original didn't color my view of it) back when I was doing the whole movie-watching and taking notes project but then I wasn't interested in Star Trek 4 and just fell out of doing it.
