Moment he knew it was time to leave WWE and did he anticipate his release: "There is the World Title thing and everything but to me my come to Jesus moment (as we say in the South) it was WrestleMania at the Battle Royal. When Miz and I did our thing and I was about to turn on him and everyone knew I was about to turn on him and the way the arena built up, I just took a couple of seconds and looked around to say wow. This is not because anyone wanted this to happen and this reaction of these 80,000 people are having this reaction because they genuinely want to. There are guys that they have tried to push and push and shove down their throats and I don't think they can ever say that. Have they had more titles? Of course. " "That was all I needed. It kind of shifted something inside me to where (and I don't want this to come out wrong) but it was like I don't need to look for justification from anyone anymore. I was given the stage to perform on and I am so grateful that the WWE in particular gave me that as well as anyone who has ever employed me did, however that was like it for me. That was just like there is more to life than this. For the first time I didn't care about winning a World Championship or being a "top guy". That just kind of cemented everything I had worked for and I was okay on the inside and when you are okay on the inside you don't need some piece of leather and tin to justify that." www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2019/01/damien-sandow-on-the-moment-he-knew-he-was-leaving-wwe-649977/

Yeah his Aron Rex stuff was trash but he is right here. The Mania battle royal was set up perfectly for him and they blew it because clearly the Authority needs the extra rub.

I actually sympathized with Sandow because he exceeded his talent by a huge margin in WWE without ever truly getting rewarded for it, but my god did he flush any goodwill he had with his TNA run.

He was a good manufactured WWE product and I think he went as far as he can go

Him not winning the Andre was absolutely stupid. There was just plain zero reason for him not to, especially given Big Show subsequently just lost to Roman then disappeared for most of the year.

Even the biggest Cena mark has to admit that him getting clowned by a one armed Cena was lame.

Why does his TNA run have anything to do with how misused he was in WWE? He was entertaining as hell in WWE (ok, that awful Macho Man impersonation aside).

His thing with Miz was funny. But he was mediocre in the ring, and honestly how far do you go with that gimmick?

Why does his TNA run have anything to do with how misused he was in WWE? He was entertaining as hell in WWE (ok, that awful Macho Man impersonation aside). Because now we see why he wasn't pushed. We as internet fans often get stuck in the MAN WWE ARE IDIOTS THIS GUY IS OBVIOUSLY INCREDIBLE trap. We get up our own asses where we can't understand why a favorite can't get a huge push and wonder what management has against a guy. Then stuff like the TNA run happens and we have to collectively eat crow and admit that those in power were 100% right all along. WWE did a bang up job hiding his weaknesses and accentuating his strengths. They did their job so well we kinda fell for thinking that he was being misused when in fact he was being used in the only way to really use him.

The TNA thing just kinda showed that left to his own devices there were some things lacking too...Liberace thing was his idea for example. So it's a case where they did misuse him, but character wise they clearly assisted as well.

Aaron Rex get your useless ovw ass outta here, they were right not to push you and actually demoted you.
Sandow was nothing more than a gimmick carefully protected by the wwe creative umbrella, but on his own? Bullshit like Aaron Rex happens.

^There's still value to him I feel. He just needs a character to really shine.
A place like Chikara would be right up his alley if he was willing to try it out. Get a crazy comicbook character or something and just go for it.
