I remember the first Super Bowl the Patriots were in and the Patriots strategy was run the ball and play for field position. There was even discussion on if Tom Brady would even start because he was injured in the AFC Championship game and Drew Bledsoe came in a did a terrific job. How times have changed. I think the Patriots strategy entering their first ever Super Bowl was to make sure the Bears looked strong. How much time changes in 33 years Oops, I meant the first Super Bowl Tom Brady was in.

The Rams are the better team. Suh and Donald will eat Brady alive. Somebody who has followed the Patriots more closely can probably answer this (BRV?), but I'm wondering if Brady's lack of pressure on Sunday was due to just a horrible Chiefs defense or if the Pats O-Line stepped up. If the Pats are going to win next Sunday, they are going to need to do everything they can to keep Brady safe. Otherwise the only real chance they have at winning would be if Goff has a horrible day, but I don't think that is going to happen with how he played in the Super Dome.

Somebody should simulate the Inaugural Tank Bowl on Madden between Arizona and Oakland for our enjoyment.
Probably would be way more entertaining than the Pro Bowl.

Patriots offensive line is REALLY, REALLY good. And when they keep Gronkowski back in protection it's even better. That way the Patriots offense can throw it to Edleman or White 75% of the time, or run it with Michel, White or Burkhead and the Patriots offense eats you alive with 4-8 yard plays over and over again.
Lets not forget Sony Michel only played in 13 games this year and started 8 and was just shy of 1,000 yards and averaged more than 4.5 YPC.
The Patriots offense isn't flashy, but it's damn good. And the defense came together at the end of the year.
I'd be shocked if this game wasn't a close one

What's funny is if they lose that game this whole run maybe doesn't happen. They probably start Bledsoe for a year or two more and Brady languishes as a backup or gets traded somewhere.

Nah, Belichick wasn't a huge Bledsoe guy. The problem is that Bledsoe had signed a huge contract a few years before and it left Bill handcuffed. The Mo Lewis hit gave him the out in terms of seeing what he had with Brady. Didn't matter if they'd lost the Superbowl, Brady was his guy based on what happened that season

Fair enough. He may not have become BRADY without that first one, or at least mighta taken longer though.

Nah, Belichick wasn't a huge Bledsoe guy. The problem is that Bledsoe had signed a huge contract a few years before and it left Bill handcuffed. The Mo Lewis hit gave him the out in terms of seeing what he had with Brady. Didn't matter if they'd lost the Superbowl, Brady was his guy based on what happened that season At some point, Tom Brady would have supplanted Drew Blesdoe as the Patriots' starting quarterback. Bill Belichick was looking for a reason and he happened to get it when Mo Lewis caved in Bledsoe's chest during the second game of the 2001 season. According to Michael Holley's "War Room," Belichick wanted to trade Bledose during training camp in 2001 and open the season with Brady or Damon Huard as the Patriots' starting quarterback, however, Robert Kraft ultimately vetoed any suggestion that Bledsoe would be traded or released, as he had just signed Bledsoe to a 10-year, $103 million contract. Basically, Bledsoe's injury was all that Belichick needed to go to one of his guys, be it Huard or Brady. In fact, the Bledsoe-Brady situation happened for Belichick nearly 10 years earlier, when Belichick cut Bernie Kosar in the middle of the 1993 season and that sent people in Cleveland into a rage, as Kosar was the local star who had been with the Browns since 1985. There's a reason why the Patriots carried four quarterbacks on the roster in 2000: Belichick had that much faith in Brady and didn't want to risk releasing him to the practice squad and watching as another franchise scooped him up. Even if Bledsoe finished the 2001 season and started all 16 games for the Patriots, the writing was on the wall. He was going to be let go and Brady was going to become the full-time starter, probably as early as 2002.

Well f*** Tom Brady and the horse he rode in on.
Time to get on his head again.
Hey Brady! If I had a head like yours, I’d have it circumcised. (Nothing) Hey Brady! Hey Brady! Your wife’s a whore. (Nothing) Hey Brady! Hey Brady! Your kids are bastards. (Nothing) Hey Brady! Hey Brady! TB12 gym sucks. (Throws a punch)

Here's who I see celebrating a Super Bowl victory on Sunday night:
- New England 31, Los Angeles Rams 27: I've had my doubts about the Patriots this entire postseason, and really, since they no-showed against the Steelers back in Week 15. But they've plugged along, walloping the Chargers and toppling the Chiefs. This is going to be yet another test for their defense, which still feels a step too slow against speedier teams like Kansas City or the Rams. Their run defense will have to stifle Todd Gurley and C.J. Anderson and they'll need to force Jared Goff to win the game with short, accurate passes rather than deep balls to Brandin Cooks and the Rams' receiving options. The Rams have the tools in place to beat the Patriots - they can get pressure up the middle and they can drop seven into coverage while only rushing four at Tom Brady. I think for the Patriots to win, they'll have to rely on a steady diet of Sony Michel and Rex Burkhead against the Rams' undersized defensive linemen and linebackers. If that fails, and the game goes to Tom Brady's arm, he's going to need to get the ball out quick and be accurate underneath, because the Rams' pass rush won't allow him the time to stand in the pocket and look deep. It's going to be a tight game, as all Patriots Super Bowls during the Tom Brady/Bill Belichick era have been.

It's Atlanta, once WCW's backyard, so Ric Flair is about to appear on NFL Network in a couple minutes.

I’m picking the Patriots to win and I’m not even sure why. I just have a feeling they will. I think the Rams are a better team, but I also thought the Chiefs and the Chargers were. Top to bottom I thought the Chargers were the best team in the NFL and the Patriots steamrolled them. Lots of similarities with the exception the Rams best receivers are speed guys and Chargers were just huge targets.
I think the Patriots are playing with house money. I didn’t expect them to get here, you lose to teams like Jacksonville, Detroit and Miami how good are you? They were unstoppable at home though I’ll be curious to see how much of the crowd are Pats fans
