I could see him getting an IC or US title. He’s got the look that they love there. They could make him the second coming of the Hunter Hearst Helmsley gimmick. They've recycled old gimmicks from time to time. I could see them trying that with his facials. That could work for him.

I mean, they’re clearly building his character as a narcissistic, egomaniac who loves his body. Just because they’ve solely been backstage segments for a dude who barely just started on the main roster doesn’t mean they’ve got zero plans for him and ruined the man forever. Give it time. It’s better than having him come out to silence, do a few matches before either being forgotten about or cutting a subpar promo and being in a subpar feud.

The problem with EC3 in WWE/NXT is that his gimmick has zero context at all. It makes me wonder why they even bothered to let him keep the name since they have done no work to explain who he is. That's been a problem with EC3 since the post Dixie era of TNA. His gimmick is almost entirely reliant on Aunt Dixie being the boss of the company. Once she left TNA TV, note that his push kinda subsided with time and he lost most of his heat. There are ways to get around this without actually putting Dixie Carter on TV, but he almost has to be someone getting a management's favorite type of push. I've always wondered why they kept him as EC3. It just makes no sense. Why didn't they let him do the same thing he is doing now as Derrick Bateman. It would be cool if they could build to a point where Dixie eventually came in and disowned him.... providing some kind of explanation and explaining his "real name" is Derrick Bateman. I don't know. I like the guy, but he just seems to be drifting along.

I just need some reason to care about these people other than, 'they were on NXT at some point'. Which has been the problem since the nxt call-ups began. "Here's Tyler Breeze. He's a model but there's no explanation as to why he's here, but he was on NXT!" "Here's Emma. She's quirky but we don't know why. She was on NXT. You love her!" Etc. Remember when Owens debuted because he wanted to prove he was the best on both brands and basically knocked John Cena down? More NXT guys need to be like that, instead of "Oh, well now they're here.", hell a Main Roster talent being on NXT feuding with someone or even having a promo with them, gives more context for a callup than just... showing up. Outside of surprise Rumble appearances.

Of course they have plans for him. He will be used to put over whoever was handpicked to be the next THE GUY and then fades into nothingless, like most other NXT callups.

I don't think he has anything to offer that you can't find in 20 other guys they have on the roster anyway, especially as this weird gimmick divorced from the company it was created in, which was dependent entirely on who owned that company. He really needs to work on chicks + america or else he's going to end up the next Steve Blackman and not the great city of Tulsa, Oklahoma. I am devastated that I was the first one to like this post.

To be a bit more like his old self he needs to be a heel, talk alot of trash on the mic, call out a few legends etc.

Yeah, it seems like his main roster run is already in trouble trouble trouble trouble trouble trouble trouble trouble trouble trouble. If EC3 was given a good angle, he could be changing the game.

Make him Ethan Carter III, grandson of the founder of Ethan Carter Wrestling, which was later rebranded as Extreme Championship Wrestling.

Make him Ethan Carter III, grandson of the founder of Ethan Carter Wrestling, which was later rebranded as Extreme Championship Wrestling. His deal is that he hates hardcore wrestling for ruining his grandad's business and he ironically goes around beating up people with chairs for liking hardcore wrestling. (Yes, I realize this is very similar to Eli Drake's angle on IMPACT Wrestling right now)

Dave and Bryan on today's Observer Radio had a theory that because EC3 is posing and Bobby Lashley is posing, that EC3 is about to feud with Lashley for the IC Title. So I don't watch TNA at all, wasn't Drake Maverick aligned with EC3 there? They could reunite and feud with Lashley and Lio. They had excellent chemistry with Maverick as the toady to EC3s rich kid character and once they fell out and started feuding that chemistry increased with a hair vs hair match being the best match of both men's career and one of a few bright spots of TNA which was in a period of decline at the time.

Besides, with one of Drake's charges injured, it'd give him something to do, and the not-injured AOP guy could be playing bodyguard. EC3 with an entourage like that would probably look more interesting.

To be a bit more like his old self he needs to be a heel, talk alot of trash on the mic, call out a few legends etc. This is what gets me. Dude is actually pretty damn good on the mic, especially as a heel, and they just won't let him talk. Look in the mirror? Check. Dana Brooke asks you a ton of workout questions and you just nod making the same weird faces? Check. Look in the mirror some more? Check. Have him just interrupt a face, go on about how much better he is than them, and there you go. He's an easy dude to write for. Hell MJF is a better EC3 than EC3 right now.

He was really unlikable in TNA and that's because he played the gimmick really well. His face was dripping with douchbaggery and then they go bring him in as a face. It's like face Miz. It doesn't work he isn't a man of the people he's just a dick.

Make him Ethan Carter III, grandson of the founder of Ethan Carter Wrestling, which was later rebranded as Extreme Championship Wrestling. I actually had an idea back in the day for Ezekiel Jackson to rename his title the Ezekiel Championship of Wrestling. At least it would have made sense him winning it on the last ECW show then claiming it as an actual title
