The thousands in the crowd, estimated at anywhere between 250,000 and 500,000, looked like a great bowl of confetti. Some perched like birds in the trees, others stood on piles of tins or upturned litter baskets; girls climbed on boys' shoulders. While playing, says Harper, "I remember this sea of people and standing on the stage seeing three or four people at a time, who'd fainted, being passed hand over hand over the top of the crowd."

Woodhead's crews "fanned out across the park filming kids in boats, a nutty preacher woman and smooching hippies. A warning was delivered about fans perching in trees who might come to grief. Looking back it all feels achingly innocent and prelapsarian. The fact that [the Stones' lead guitarist] Brian Jones had died only two days before gave the whole thing a self-consciously melancholy undertow."
Woodhead's colleague, the late great director John Sheppard, had been with Jagger the previous day, and now escorted him in the back of a limo with his girlfriend, the ultimate "beautiful person", Marianne Faithfull – daughter of an army officer and Austrian baroness and much-admired actress at the Royal Court.

A barricaded elite enclosure was cornered off for VIPs, girlfriends and press, manned by Hells Angels and other self-appointed security. Most of the girls wore cheesecloth and were bra-less. Paul McCartney was there, as were Keith Moon, the Who's drummer, and Viv Stanshall of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, who went on to entertain in a pub on Kensington High Street, just down the road from the Albert Hall, where the Who and Chuck Berry were playing that night.
In the aftermath, recalls Woodhead: "I knew we'd witnessed something special, but it was hard to process it all. We discovered we couldn't find a crucial film roll of Satisfaction, lost under a bush somewhere. I wonder if someone found it and still keeps it as a memento of the day. I edited the film in Manchester and we screened it in Granada's London office for Keith, Bill [Wyman], Charlie [Watts] and Mick Taylor. As we came to the end of part one, Keith said: "I hope the lead guitarist tunes up before part two."

Round 17 : Final Four! As the round name suggests, we are down to just four incredible contestants! So, before we go any farther, please give a round of applause to our remaining would-be FAN Idols!
Brainbustaaah!Kevin HamiltonRadcapRadsleyBrandon Walsh is Insane. After 17 Rounds where our Idol contestants traveled around the globe, played their way up from dive bars and coffee shops to live television shows beamed into millions of homes, rounds that tested their knowledge of musical genres, ability to connect emotionally to their audience, and saw them craft their first album, we find our Finale determined by just three songs a piece from each contestant.
Three Songs.
Our contestants had to select songs that reflected their career as a future FAN Idol: 1 Song performed by artists that rarely collaborate, 1 Song performed on television in front of an audience, and 1 Song that bragged about the fame or skill, among other things, of their performers. To add another event to the proceedings, each contestant had the option to Double Dip, that is select songs from artists already used this Season, one for the Collaboration category and one for another category of their choice. Each pair of contestants had their songs face-off in a series of three versus battles. Each Judge voted for the song they preferred between these battles, with each vote representing a point. A player would win a battle if they earned three or more points. A player would win and move on to the Finale if they win two or more battles. If there was a tie, where each player won one battle a piece and they split a third battle 2 votes to 2, the player with the most points would win.
While the results of this round will determine who moves on to the Finale, success or failure in this round does not determine the success or failure of anyone's game this Season. Every player in the Final Four played superbly and any combination of players would make a Finale to watch.
However, our four players have to go down to two.
For our first Round 17 face-off, the player with the most points met the player with the fourth highest point total.
RadcapRadsleyBrandon Walsh is Insane. Please step forward.
One player has made it to the Finale in two straight FAN Idol Seasons.
One player has dominated the competition in this, his first Idol Season.
Both players have shown an ability to find songs from a wide spectrum of musical genres and time periods, both obscure as well as known the world over.
For the Collaboration category, Rad2019 selected jazz icon Herbie Hancock and diva powerhouse Tina Turner's Edith and the Kingpin, while Zack Morris is Insane. countered with Say Say Say by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and the Cute One of the Beatles, Paul McCartney!

You have been a dominant force all game long and, with your side choices here, you have defeated one of the best Idol players ever! Good luck in the Finale!!!!
That means that, unfortunately, we must say goodbye to Rad2019. Rad, each season, time and timecagain, you prove yourself to be one of the best players we've ever had. You pick artists that are often never been used before in the twelve seasons of this game and, more importantly, you succeed with them. You also don't why away from the mainstream, instead going deep and choosing the best of the best. One day, I hope you become FAN Idol but, either way, you help make this game so great! I hope you consider being involved in whatever future FAN Idol Seasons in whatever capacity you wish.
Everyone, please give a hand for Rad2019!!!!
And now for our second face-off!
Brainbustaaah!Kevin HamiltonPlease step forward.
Much like our other face to face battle, we have a former FAN Idol finalist and judge facing off against a first time player that has been a dominant force at times during this season.
Both players can pull deep from their knowledge of different musical genres, yet there is also an underlining penchant for rock music that makes them a popular choice moving forward. Whomever wins this series of versus battles will give our first finalist a run for his money.
Let's start with the Collaboration category. Brainbustaaah! kicked off his set of three songs with soundtrack maestro Bear McCreary's update of Blue Oyster Cult's trampling Godzilla, featuring Nu Metal alchemist Serj Tankian and brutal animated rockers Dethklok! Not to be outdone, Kevin Hamilton responded with Louisville, Kentucky's own hip-hop icons Nappy Roots and their raucous remix of Aw Naw with My Metal Hit makers P.O.D!!!
Winning this first battle, 3-1, is...
