I can't believe Mathews used to entertain me weekly on Are You Serious?

Joe Hendry is gone for the looks of it.
I really need this dude to be the face of NXT UK for a while before getting called up. Absolutely love his shtick. For as good as Impact has been recently, they wasted the f*** out of the Local Hero. Would think AEW would be all over him at this point, he's pretty much their type.

I'm indifferent to Callis, and kinda like Striker in his way, but I'll grant you Madden. Rob Bartlett may be even worse. Bartlett is definitely worse than Madden. Madden was at least on-topic sometimes. Rob Bartlett is the absolutely worst commentator I've ever heard in my life.

Bartlett was a comic Vince found funny, he sucked but there were no long term plans for him to become the leading announcer, Mathews on the other hand was trained for years in announcing but still sucks.

I could see Grado getting released soon as well. His appeal that he's got in ICW, as Scotland's common-man underdog, just doesn't seem to have caught on in the states,
Here, he's mainly seen as a comic relief fat guy without any other aspects of his character that got him over in the first place.

He's still there?
Could sworn he got released long ago or just left on the quiet like Joe Hendry (Who they didn't really give a chance)

He's been busy with other projects recently, doing the panto scene in Glasgow over the Christmas period past couple of years, and has had acting gigs for the BBC. Came back to ICW in July making semi-regular appearances.

Commentary is one of those things that seems easy.until you do it. But then when I watch Impact I tune out the commentary. Started doing that back in 2012.

I had a trial run as a commentator once (for a local indy, now defunct), I wasn't any good. I realised I wasn't any good though and stepped away. I didn't vaunt myself as the greatest around a la Douchey McBucketsoCash

My biggest flaw is I throw in way to many inside jokes and references.

Lol I need to throw in more inside jokes and references to wrestling. My thing now is trying to get the main person I do commentary with to laugh. The current running joke is about how his mother keeps trying to find herself a rich half dead man on FarmersOnly.

Grado being an even bigger part of the show would be something that somehow made the very worst of TNA even more abhorrent.

Funny don’t draw money. Still he got tna a lot of attention with him asking Madonna to please give them permission to use her music as his entrance theme. Grado is also a known comedian and actor in the uk, that market hadn’t been damaged by tna and they needed that. I’m not saying making the guy champion but he could’ve helped them a lot.

Personally I think the Rock, New Day, Mick Foley... etc. pretty much prove that Funny don't draw money is pretty patently false... that said I do think a lot of Grado's schtick never really translated to an American Audience.

Rock and Mick told jokes but were bad asses when the bell rung. The New Day can also turn it up when they need to get serious and get into fights. You can use comedy in promos but at the end of the day you need to be a badass. Being just funny doesn’t make you important in the card you need to show more.
