Who are the Big Six of NXT again? If I had to guess, it would be Black, Ciampa, Gargano, Dream, Ricochet, and Cole?

Well, discounting Hideo, who had lousy injury luck... Owens and Balor are former World champs. Owens, Balor and Zayn will all win the WWE or Universal title within the next 5 years. Neville they dropped the ball on. 3/5 ain't bad? You really think it’ll happen for Sami? Yep. Probably a short term run to put heat on a bigger heel but yeah I think he'll get it.

Neville had a good run, competed at WM, Nope, he was injured and taken out of WM 32 ladder match replaced by Ryder, and the next year he was on the kickoff show which doesn't count and wasn't even on the DVD.

Could've sworn the NXT roster also had four women around this time. Wonder whatever happened to them. ...looking for their horses?

Do you think any of them are still that happy? Yes. And even if it doesn't apply to these guys, I think we really need to wake up to the fact that sometimes these guys like being paid a lot of money to do a less intense and creatively satisfying version of their dream job.

Aw, that's nothin'. Let's revisit THIS: This photo seems so old but it was only 7 years ago (TLC December 2011). I'm not too surprised that Punk eventually fizzled out but I never imagined that Bryan would still be around to this day having a second HoF worthy run in the WWE and still being the top guy. I never would have imagined Cody leaving the company and possibly revolutionizing the industry with Generation Me. I never would have imagined Kofi being part of one of the most popular and marketable factions of all time.

I’m hoping KENTA joins AEW now.

These five stand for a lot that completely changed how we interact with developmental and with that in mind I think there's a lot more that's complicated about this situation to unpack. This was the top of a developmental class more exposed to the broader viewerbase than any before it, and set high hopes for a future built around them. Like I'm not going to say they're on the level of the much-vaunted OVW class that had Lesnar, Cena, Orton, and Batista, because that produced four top guys, but this is definitely the most talented cream of the crop since then due to a lot of factors about how they hired and trained guys.
It was a slate of guys hired from the indie scene and pushed strongly regardless of that, and signaled new directions in hiring practices. There was a freshness and a hope that this instilled. How it ended up was less than spectacular and you can see the gamut here; mishandled by management not knowing how to use them, f***ed over by injury after injury until all plans were gone and there wasn't any real sense of how to deal with it, being pushed under where they should be and not allowed to break through over the real top guys, or simply not appreciated for the work being put in.
They ended up inspiring lots of hope but also ended up mostly being case studies in how their presentation by the guy building the future clashed with the guy writing the main show in the present. They played a big part in building the initial buzz around NXT and then became proof positive of how much of a crapshoot main roster success can actually be when you come up from the system. There's a lot going on in that picture beyond just raw career status and so much of what's been talked about in recent years on the more metanarrative topics of the creative process and all the backstage goings on has been shaped by this one picture.

I had a great time going to shows when these guys were on top in NXT. NXT is awesome now, but doesn’t quite feel as unique as back then. Just a different vibe.
