I really want to see this, and saw it was up now about 3 hours before I went to work. I started it and then saw the runtime and I realized I have to wait until tonight if I'm not too tired.

Having finished it, here are my thoughts:
It kinda kicks the living shit out of any of the Nolan movies, honestly. This was so goddamn good.
Having seen the deleted scene, kinda glad they cut it. It's good and all and an interesting idea, but it also just has the character more or less spoon-feeding to the audience what is going on, and that's not really necessary.
I also really enjoyed that, well, it really made a case for why Batman cannot be too unforgiving and brutal, or he creates an environment that follows his lead. Don't think we're necessarily going to get him in blue and grey, exactly, but I do echo others in saying this is a Batman who could have a Robin.

Not just creates an environment where the wrong people are inspired and follow his lead with escalation, but an environment where the good people of Gotham are afraid of him. The guy at the beginning begged Batman to not hurt him, and that all changes at the end when he takes steps to change himself, and be the light in the darkness of Gotham. And it can't be said enough, great work by Pattison, Reeves, and crew for making Bruce so awkward. He's seriously f***ed up, like all incarnations of Batman are (except for 66), and he's not even attempting to be Bruce, he's Batman every second.

I do like that he is clearly trying to a degree, all the same, like you get little moments of him saying unkind things to Alfred, but he's also learning to appreciate him more as the film goes on, plus I liked that they have Alfred actively trying to help him crack the case. Which, gotta say, nice to see Batman, the "World's Greatest Detective" try to actively solve a case. Only took them... basically until now, really? Like yeah, we'd get scenes of Batman doing things sometimes like try to find out a villain's background in previous films, but ultimately not a lot of active investigation.

I would say I like this new one more than Batman Begins, but if I had to think deeply on it I still think I prefer Dark Knight and Rises over this. Watching Pattinson untangle the web is fine and all, but I’m interested in seeing how Rob’s Batman would deal with the all-hands-on-deck atmosphere throughout those last two Nolans. Not to mention that as much as I liked Dano’s Riddler, Joker and Bane felt more, I guess intimidating is the word (goofy Bane voice and all).

I’m gonna have to re-watch it, was pretty baked for first viewing, but I didn’t really get into it. It had a lot of really cool scenes and visuals, and Pattinson absolutely killed it as Batman, but overall I didn’t really love it. And didn’t care for Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, not for the performance but the fact that he looks like an emo high school kid.
It’s certainly not a bad movie, just didn’t really click with me. I’m gonna watch it again in the next week or two and see if my opinion changes.

Overall I really liked it. Thought the acting was great. Pattinson is now my favourite, he was absolutely crushed it. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Did anyone else find the ending flat? It seemed anti-climatic.
Oof on the Joker. I have no idea who that guy is so I'll wait and see, but that scene didn't do anything for me. His laugh was SO fake and terrible that my stomach dropped. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Honestly? The ending felt like a Studio Note with why what had been a cat and mouse detective story to that point suddenly had a domestic terrorist attack acted out by zealots that there was no indication they even existed to serve as an action set piece for the climax. The funeral protestors. They were present and foreshadowed, but given they're basically QAnon weirdos, I can forgive people for missing them when we're kinda forced to tune them out on a regular basis.

Yeah, some time after I made the post, I saw a tweet that pointed out the guy Batman unmasked at the end was the same person he briefly talked to at the funeral. And by then, I completely forgot I even made this post. I saw the movie. I liked the movie. Really don't have any desire to re-watch the movie.

I've seen a point made that the guy unmasked at the end should've been the guy Bruce saved at the start of the movie and that really would have been way more effective.
In general I'd probably say the movie is more cohesive than the Nolan ones but probably not more watchable. I'd probably need to see it again but while I very much enjoyed the movie I get the sense it wouldn't be the easiest to sit through a second time between the length (and just how many scenes just kind of meander on and easily could've been edited down) and the pretty weak climax that runs counter to a lot of the movie.
Though really if I'm picking a random Batman movie to watch it's probably going to be one of the Burton ones.

No, that'd have been pessimistic as f***, even with this movie's dark atmosphere that'd be too much. Bruce needed a positive example of what he could do in the climax to help him realize he needed to change his tactics. I thought the flare scene achieved that well enough without totally depressing the audience.

People sort of look too heavy into stuff and miss the simple things or just bypass it When you look at the beginning and the end you get simple story telling and what they wanted to accomplish. Batman wanted to control everything by fear and the guy he saved he was scared of him. At the end, the people were still weary but when the boy came to Batman, everyone followed and him leading the crowd with the flare shows that he can give them hope

It wasn't a save where he beat the shit out of somebody, or tried to intimidate people, it was Bruce risking his life to get a kid out of the way of a car. The first one to reach out to Batman, is the kid he saved as Bruce with no violence on his part.

I don't know that they should've gone down this particular rabbit hole anymore with how long the movie already is but I found myself wondering a lot about his relationship with the police. Gordon may trust him but how the hell are they convincing rank and file officers to allow him into crime scenes? Are defense attorneys ok with this? Are they not calling the local newspaper to make them aware the GCPD is allowing a vigilante to visit the crime scene? How is Gordon going to justify a conviction for the Riddler when Batman obviously broke chain of custody as far as gathering evidence?

I loved Pattinson's take on Batman and was really glad to see Batman get to be a detective in a live-action movie. I didn't like his approach to Bruce Wayne as much, though. Of all the live-action actors, I still think Christian Bale nailed Bruce the best as I loved how he played the public persona of Bruce as being as much of a mask (if not more) than Batman was.
