So I went and checked out Lauren Faust's new show, DC Super Hero Girls. Since there are 6 main characters on that show, many will most likely make a dumb comparison to the FiM mane 6. Like so:
Wonder Woman - Twilight Sparkle: Fish out of water type having a difficult time trying to adapt to her new surroundings. And her earrings are a bit similar to Twilight's cutie mark (although with only 5 points).
Batgirl - Pinkie Pie: Extremely hyper and easily distracted. Can ramble very quickly for long periods of time. (voiced by Tara Strong, BTW)
Zatanna - Rarity: Total fashionista who loves a trip to the day spa. You take one look at her and you can immediately make the comparison.
Bumblebee - Fluttershy: The shy and anti-social type, though can get down to business when the situation needs it.
Supergirl - Rainbow Dash: The rebellious tough girl. Strongest of the group and isn't afraid to show it.
Green Lantern - Applejack: Kind of a default, but she does have a "one with nature" type of personality that resembles AJ.
In no way do I expect it to fill the void of FiM once that's gone, but it's still a decent show. In fact, it's nothing like FiM, but I didn't expect it to be. It's obviously more about crime fighting than it is about friendship lessons, taking place in yet another high school setting. If anything, it's more of a Powerpuff Girls type with a little bit of EqG sprinkled in. Also, M.A. Larson is a story editor on this show. I usually enjoyed his episodes on FiM the most, so I'll probably check out a few more episodes.
