"Equestria Girls: Spring Breakdown"...gets an 8/10. Pros: -The humor was pretty good in this one. From the running gag of AJ going all "Granny Smith" (seriously, I should feel bad for this but she looked so sadorable that I could not help but hug her) to Rarity's Irish/Scottish/Aussie/something crush (how many different accents did the VA mangle in this one) until Sci-Twi doing a nice reversal of Pony Twi's freak-out when she first stepped foot into the human world. Seriously, the whole special just was plain fun to watch and I felt entertained throughout it all. -Also loved that the threat here was kinda minimal in scope compared to the previous movies and specials. I doubt that the special would have provided so much joy if we had a real antagonist to contend with for most of its run time. Enjoyed the tie-in to the movie as well with the Storm King's rampant magic being the cause of all this. -The scenes in Equestria were the highlight for me because its always fun to see Sunset Shimmer as a pony. Liked the subtle touch of Human Dashie as pony that her wings were always unfolded since she did not know how to fold them. Princess Twi just chilling and them all having fun chatting about their adventures was also a lovely sight. -Nice seeing all the girls at the end doing superhero stuff in the end. Especially liked Sunset rescuing the little girl (I am sure she would make a great mother someday  and AJ destroying the door to save the family behind it. Definitely was an awesome sight. Cons: -I thought the main conflict here was kinda weak sauce in the argument between Sci-Twi and Rainbow Dash. Seemed like a set-up that really did not need a mane character argument and could have been done without it (more on that below). -The special was pretty unevenly paced as in taking half of its runtime for the set-up before getting to the main meat. Would have liked to see more scenes in Equestria (perhaps change the story to a capsize in the first five minutes, let them discover the portal and let them have the spring break in Equestria and have some hijinks with humans getting used to pony bodies) and also everypony else in the mane cast besides Rainbow, Sunset and Sci-Twi getting some more screentime. And why didn't Sci-Twi just save Dashie with her telekinesis from the quicksand? Would have been faster. Still, a fun special worthy of an 8/10. |

Also did not notice until the very end that they had their geodes in their barrettes etc.. Neat touch (though it must be annoying to sew it into accessories like that.)
