Qualifying is underway for the first round of the 2019 Formula 1 season in Australia, and already a surprise with the Red Bull of Pierre Gasly knocked out in Q1 in their first race weekend with Honda engines.

Hamilton wins the pole position, and already it looks like it going to be Mercedes as the team to beat once again.

Fugly ol' start for Ricciardo, wrecking his front wing right off the start line.

Sainz is the first retirement with a blown engine... Can't blame THAT on Honda anymore.

You would think there would be a bit more urgency in getting out of a car that's on fire.

It's the most wonderful time of the year. And I don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn to watch a F1 race.

So who is the first person to try and grab the fastest lap bonus point at the end of the race and ending up crashing instead?

I hate how they're treating Kyle Busch's 200 NASCAR victories the same as Richard Petty's 200 victories.

Why are we still combining motorsports into one thread?
We have a Sports section now. Surely at least NASCAR and F1 can have their own threads.

You would think there would be a bit more urgency in getting out of a car that's on fire. Yeah we said the same thing watching yesterday. My wife spent the whole time like "Get out already, moron. Your care has been on fire for over a minute. Can't you feel that?"

IndyCar season is underway, with two races down. Josef Newgarden won the first race at St. Petersburg, while Colton Herta became the youngest ever IndyCar winner at age 18 with a victory at Circuit of the Americas.

I missed St. Pete, but the CotA race was exciting. I've been getting into IndyCar a bit lately, especially with my brother and I toying with the idea of attending the 500 in 2020.
