Did the league launch too early, or was it always doomed to fail? From everything it sounds like Charlie Ebersole wanted to beat Vince in launching a new league... but also sounds like he and Bill Polian lied about the finances. For as much crap as Vince had gotten and likely will continue to get for the new XFL he actually is taking his time and actually has some smart people running the league One top of the fact, we know that the funds are being put into it. Vince selling off his stock is something you can't lie about in a public traded company like the WWE. The biggest non business move they need to do is by the start of the NFL season the teams are put together and practicing, the more time you give your teams to learn the rules the XFL is putting in, the coaching style, and develop chemistry the better the on field product will be come week one. That seemed to been the mistake with the first XFL and AAF had some of that too.

I'm gonna miss the times I went to see what was on the NFL Network hoping the would show a classic game from sometime before 2018 that wasn't a Super Bowl and instead it was an AAF game.

Good god, that's sad. What the f*** where they expecting? That a scrub league with scrub players would amount to shit? Post merger, only the USFL was a real alternative and it self destructed. It does make me think of a good idea with respect to an alternative sports league, the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. They usually run small areas (4000-7500 seat arenas), like the one on Long Island, the Bethpage Ballpark, which holds 6002 people and usually attracts a pretty good crowd, and that league's been around since 2000.

If Vince wasn’t a failure at everything except wrestling, he would hire those people and start small without delusions of grandeur. Now he has Oliver Luck driving a new titanic.

My favorite thing right now is way off the mark takes, and that thread is a real treasure at the moment. The XFL will still probably be a colossal failure, but it’s fun seeing people predict that the biggest flop league of all-time would be the cause of its demise.

The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball is another decent one, too. The league's only been around since 2005, but a lot of the teams are from the former Northern League that began in 1993. Sioux Falls Canaries: Established in 1993. Sioux City Explorers: Established in 1993. Winnipeg Goldeyes: Established in 1994 (Rochester Aces in 1993). St. Paul Saints: Established in 1993. Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks: Established in 1996. Lincoln Saltdogs: Established in 1996 as the Madison Black Wolf, before moving to Lincoln in 2000. Kansas City T-Bones: Established in 1993 as the Duluth-Superior Dukes, before moving to Kansas City in 2003. Just to name a few.

Minor League Baseball and Lower League Soccer in the Us are thriving, because it's better served live then on tv and you can run on a small scale and build from the ground in smaller and or underserved markets. Much harder to that for a sport with significantly higher insurance and 50 man roster's. Doesn't matter how competent/smart the people runnning it are, minor league football will always be a tricky prospect.

You think Vince will do a AAF invades XFL angle? Why not? Team WWE beat The Alliance at the Survivor Series, now the XFL can do the same.

How long until Homer Simpson appears on an episode of the Simpsons in AAF gear anticipating the next season only for Marge to break the news to him?

I'm disappointed. I had fun watching San Antonio and the city was really getting behind the team.

I admit I was one of those who thought the XFL was screwed, but how little we knew how much wasn't the truth on the AAF side in the investing side of things. I thought that because when you look at the AAF announcement that had all of this information to give the people and all of these people involved that made it seem like this was going to be it for spring football and be big and while the XFL didn't say much when Vince said it. As time went on, the more we got the better I felt about the XFL. They to bring in the right pieces and good people but the difference we know how much it being funded.

I lived through the Canadian Baseball league. The top-attended team averaged 1700 people a game. Four of the 8 averaged less than 300 a game. The league survived half a season, and the owner lost $4,000,000 on the ordeal.

Just create NFL 2 and have a promotion and relegation system.

Just create NFL 2 and have a promotion and relegation system. Problem is the NFL doesn't want to have a developmental league after the failure of NFL Europe.
