That was awesome to see, and even more at how genuinely happy they were.
But I wish the tag titles meant more. It'd be better if there were actual good workrate teams on Raw for Revival to work with.
I'm happy they won, but they have no one to face that can really to show off what they could do.
Even Roode/Gable feel A,B, C, D when delivering moves. Gable is a beast, but as a team I find them tedious.
New Day, Usos, and Revival make it look effortless.
I wish they were on Smackdown.

Meh, feels a little pathetic that they had to threaten to leave in order to get a push, but whatever. Same token though, like... WWE clearly saw enough value in them to rapidly rush them to the tag titles in response to the idea of leaving. If they see them as at that level to begin with then why on earth weren't they being used that way? If anything I feel like WWE giving them the belts now justifies their position, they DO deserve to be treated better than WWE's given them. More guys need to threaten to do this and they are. Ambrose is bouncing, and other stars ain't taking this shit anymore. It's beginning to become just not worth it. Money's starting to not become such a huge issue in the Indys anymore especially with rising promotions like AEW, and no matter how much WWE might try and squash it, it's not gonna squash, it's only gonna advance.

Roode's Blockbuster into Gable's German Suplex was f***ing insane. Stuff like that is why tag team wrestling is my favorite when done well.

I've read that fox wants less comedy on Smackdown when it comes to their network. With that in mind the new day should be moved to raw. There's also the fact that there is a built in story between these two teams. The revival injured Kofi before the new day moved to Smackdown.

I just want Roode on his own again.
Gable stealing his look and gimmick is cringe to watch. I feel like Gable should probably kick his ass and become an obnoxious jerk about it... maybe have a match where the winner keeps the Entrance Music. That would be fun. I have a feeling Gable could play the annoying heel well.

How hard would it be to organize Raw so that 20-30 minutes every show is devoted to tag wrestling? Assign a writer to the division and that's their only assignment. Put some focus on the differences between the teams. Give them some storylines. Build to title changes. It's not rocket science.

The tag-team divisions on the main roster WWE suck for three reasons. One is something affecting everyone: They can't tell a story without a title, and they let one or two acts hog the titles. Second, they can't resist sacrificing tag teams to make singles stars look good. I think we all agree these could and should change.
But the third is more controversial, probably: hot tags. Hot tags have made tag-team wrestling boring as all hell. Most matches have the same story, over and over and over: heat segment, hot tag, finish. We need a few more ways the narrative of tag matches can go, because I think most fans have intuited how one-note the division is in terms of match structure.

Meh. They are good wrestlers but don’t really connect and fit with main roster audience. I’m actually looking forward to the edgeheads dethroning them.

I have a feeling Gable could play the annoying heel well. Gable is an excellent shithead heel. American Alpha were heels for a while and they did a great job as jock bro assholes even though Gable was super-entertaining. Plus I actually thought he was doing pretty well with the 'why weren't we in the match???' whiny prick thing he was doing before they stopped it. And the hot tag segment has been dominating wrestling for decades. I remember the first time I noticed it I was only a couple of years into my fandom and I've been watching for nearly twenty years now. I can barely even name any tag matches that don't have the hot tag spot.

The supposed talk was also they weren't just interested in the titles since the division was so dead. Letting them have a match like their NXT days (with one half of one of their best opponents) at least does show positive progress in the tag division hopefully it continues. Yeah, if I recall, the talk wasn't that they even asked for the belts, they were saying they wanted to see WWE commit to the tag division, that they were tired of it being marginalized and half-assed.

I made a thread about this awhile ago, but I'd kill for tag wrestling in some companies to enforce rules that compel teams to implement strategies into their matches, e.g. do something like only allowing a partner to break up a pin or submission so many times or else it's a disqualification, a factor that could lead to some interesting storytelling possibilities. Hot tags will probably be around forever, but allowing new wrinkles into the equation would freshen the style up considerably.

Granted I'm mixed on the timing to make that particular objection known because... It's WrestleMania season and none of the Raw tag division is over. You can't really do much to start elevating them in prominence until after the dust has settled from that and you've had the chance to shuffle the rosters a bit. So one hand, yeah, there's not all that much WWE can really do right this minute, but on the other it is at least giving them a few months before the shakeup to plan some things out and figure out how to best use what they have to get two good tag divisions out of it. Granted probably giving them too much credit to assume they WILL do that, but at least they CAN.

That's already a rule, it's just poorly explained, that you're only supposed to break up a pin or submission once per tag. I honestly think Dean Ambrose is the only person I've ever heard explain it on commentary. Dean said something like, "Oh, he burned his one break-up". Helps Dean is actually really damn good at commentary, and I hope he eventually moves to doing it, wherever he ends up.

I love the Revival but being champions in any division of, what, three... four teams? is pretty meaningless.
With them just having the one set of tag belts for the women, I'd quite like to see them go the same direction with the men and have The Revival show up on Smackdown in the next few week and put in a claim to being the real Top Guys but challenge whoever the Smackdown champions are to a unification match. Given that there are more titles than matches on a given PPV these days anyhow, what's the harm?
