You could easily make the case he is the most over male talent on the roster,he might not be as loved Becky or Peak Bryan but he is organically over as hell both with the IWC or what they call smarks and the "marks". WWE should get him the hell away from the gutter trash trio and give him a proper IC feud and match at WM

It’s nice to see him get a belt again after all this time. Unfortunately it doesn’t feel like it will mean anything. Hopefully he keeps it until Mania and has an awesome match on the show with someone that can showcase his talents more so it helps him get used better.

I've just come down.
Let's see what happened last night for what it could be - the beginning of a proper build, at least in the company's eyes and almost certainly of Creative's, of a bonefide superstar, as well as the rehabilitation of the Intercontinental championship as a prestigious title in the hands of a capable and credible holder. WWE has entrusted to Finn Balor the role of Raw's highest-profile active position; the Intercontinental championship, defended regularly by a babyface on his way to the World or Universal titles, should be around his waist for some time until either a) he should lose it to another babyface while being prepared for greater things, or b) Finn himself turns heel. With Lesnar largely absent until either he loses the Universal title to Seth or not at Wrestlemania, Balor opens up the contendership to a much broader circle of opponents than would be possible or marketable with a heel champion.
This may also be the strongest indication yet presented that WWE is aware of the threat posed by AEW. Here is where I would refute the prediction that the title's getting a hot potato treatment, at least until they have Finn's contract locked back in (presumably in August). Another Wrestlemania season without _any_ title runs for Balor would have likely brought AEW knocking with not just a boatload of cash, but the promise of a high-profile title run and the consistent digs in commentary and elsewhere that Prince Devitt was horribly misused in WWE. When it's becoming clear to all and sundry that Triple H's promises in NXT don't pan out with the call-up to the main roster, that's when one's loyalty to WWE has to be called into question.
In this case, however, it's good to see Vince getting the message.

Wish they'd let him have a reign similar to Seth's first one before they had him drop it to Dolph for some reason.

I feel like after the Brock match, this is their idea of "rewarding" Finn while also attempting to yet again elevate the IC Title. If that's the case though, Finn can't get any more chump booking. They need to book him like they booked RVD during his first couple of IC Title reigns. Just completely dominant of the division and defenses against a bunch of guys who can go at his speed or at least close. The last thing Finn needs is 50/50 booking in roadrunner matches with Corbin and Lashley.

Didn't we just have a "Balor wins the IC title who cares?" thread?

I had to laugh because there was a small Lashley chant before he slammed Lio, and that was like, the most positivity he's gotten since returning.

Didn't we just have a "Balor wins the IC title who cares?" thread? Sorta. I just combined 2 that were basically the same.
