Edge saying Becky didn't want to be a heel when they were working on the Cutting Edge segment, even though like a year ago she was talking about wanting to go heel. Then again, she wasn't doing anything at the time. Yeah, I don't think it's that Becky didn't want to be a heel, so much as she knew the crowd weren't prepared to accept her as a heel. She's said (on Lilian Garcia's podcast, I think) that, when she was told to go out and attack the fans in that first heel promo, she knew they weren't going to buy it. She knew they'd cheer her, because they sympathised with her and believed she deserved more than she'd been given. I thought that Rusev loved being a babyface, at the tail end of the Rusev Day thing, but he's claimed he prefers being a heel. I'm not sure if that's just him making the best of the WWE's terrible decisions, though. I think most people would prefer being a heel in WWE the last few years. They get to be entertaining, have gimmicks, cut promos and they don't job. Everyone seems to assume that Jericho loves putting guys over and maybe it's even his own choice to do it but he said he doesn't and that if it up was up to him he would win all the time and be the top guy. I love the honesty of this. Yeah honestly much as I am cooling on Jericho as a guy (not as a talent) I do appreciate him being straight up about that.

If you changed it to Generic Fart Monster, I'd be willing to bet he'd be a multi-time world champion How much money would Vince have if he had to pay a $50 fine every time he did something childish? *Looks in Wallet* I......I'd probably have more money than Vince

I actually thought the Owens/Jericho WM 33 match was pretty decent but the Kevin Owens 365 doc on the Network illustrated clearly that Owens (and Vince, good lord VINCE) weren't fans of that match up.

I agree with them lol. That match was so below what everyone built it up to be leading up to that show. After it was done it was inconceivable that anyone would want that match in one of the main event slots. Especially with the crowd reaction being surprisingly muted.

This match NEEDED the Universal Title. Screw Goldberg/Brock... that match was already hot due to Goldberg squashing him at Survivor Series.

Brodus Clay as the Funkasaurus. He was reasonably over, featured on every show and treated pretty well. But he thought he could be a megastar as a generic fat monster. Brodus seems like a pretty likable guy for the most part, but he has delusions of grandeur in terms of his perception of his own ceiling. As we've seen after he left the WWE, the Funaksaurus gimmick did a great job of hiding the fact he's total ass cheeks in the ring After watching an interview with him on a cable news outlet, I understand why he was limited physically though. Back to Jericho...his WWF debut is well loved, but he didn't like how it turned out.

The one I’ve heard that always confused me is in regards to the famous “With a tear in my eye” promo from Ric Flair after winning the 1992 Rumble. Apparently Vince hated it.

I'm not going to lie, if a guy's name was Generic Fat Monster, he'd probably be super over in NXT. Then why are War Raiders so lame

Doesn't Austin hate his WM 14 match with HBK? I can understand it, but given the limitations both had at that time it turned out pretty good. I believe he thought it sucked because how bad Shawn was at the time health wise and how good of a match there where having at the King of the Ring in 97. I think he knew it should been a lot better. I think Alexa said she didn't want to play heel at first but once she did it and did it so well she was ok with it. Kevin Nash I think says he hates playing a babyface. Even though when he allowed to show his sense of humor side he very entertaining. See his stuff in TNA with Alex Shelley. Michaels is also chewing his gum after he’s supposed to be knocked out by Mike Tyson after the match. You can see it in the video. I’m sure Austin wasn’t happy about that either.

Much like Brodus Clay's whole deal, I will never understand why Damien Sandow was so determined to denounce the intellectual savior gimmick so that he could be Steve Austin as played by your fat uncle.
What I understand even less is why he stopped being Steve Austin as played by your fat uncle so that he could be Liberace as played by your fat uncle.

What's even sadder is he's trying to denounce it while keeping all the f***ing mannerisms. His first promo will always be legendary bad, but he's still walking around with the same smirk and holding the mix like Sandow did but yet you are trying to not act like that character

Neville seemed like he was throwing his heart and soul into being king of the cruiserweights. But apparently he was beyond frustrated and just counting the days.

That’s being hidden in plain sight, almost. Dude was throwing so much into being a bitter and miserable prick, that he became bitter and miserable himself for not being allowed to do so outside the scope of 205 Live.

I think it's very common that what a lot of people excel at are not what they really like doing. Maybe it's them not liking it, so they just sort of act whatever about it, but that ends up working out a lot better. It's one of those odd paradoxes of wrestling.

Doesn't Austin hate his WM 14 match with HBK? I can understand it, but given the limitations both had at that time it turned out pretty good. Similarly, Steamboat doesn't like his WM3 match with Randy Savage despite it generally being seen as a classic. In an interview Steamboat said that he hated that Macho planned his matches move for move. And Steamboat was like "in comparison to the match at Mania me and Flair called it on the spot and improvised and so there's no doubt which matches was better to me". And i was like well I'm not sure...The way he is telling it it was like his Mania match was an abomination. They were great in their own way when you have performers of this level. Of course the Flair-Steamboat matches felt more organic and real and Macho-Steamboat felt more showmanship and spectacular but I liked both styles.
