All because the main shows are sinking.
Like, this was two huge storylines that have just been forgotten. Ciampa’s heel character is God-tier, the best in the business IMO, and the “who attacked Alistair Black” storyline was one of the most intriguing and well delivered stories in NXT history. We’d yet to really see what Johnny could be like as a heel.
With the two of them holding the big two titles it could have lead to some evil Mega Powers type story, where both bad guys are at the top of the mountain. Or something? Who knows?
We never will, because all of that has been scrapped and it looks like they’ve just been retconned into DIY again, except now they sort of kind of talk a bit like heels, even though they’ve been put into the “plucky underdogs” role, fighting against bigger stars like Sheamus who don’t take them seriously.
They’ve only just arrived on the main roster, and it may just be a passing visit. I hope it is, because it just seems like a hell of a lot of good work and potential great future NXT moments have been ruined.

Don't worry, they'll probably try to rehash the whole thing on the main roster. Only they'll cram it all into about six weeks, and then blame Gargano and Ciampa when fans don't care.

I think the plan has always been (or at least in the past couple of months) for ‘heel’ DIY to be a short term thing and then at some point before mania they set up the ‘final’ Ciampa/Gargano showdown.

I'd maybe wait a month or two before making this point.

I'm a-okay with just getting it over with already because it's been going on way too long, repeatedly ignored the natural blowoff point, wrecked any perception that Gargano is sympathetic, and really just plain stopped making the slightest bit of sense.

Should've been blown off several months ago already.

Honestly it should have been over months ago. To me this is one of those “mercifully it’s over” type deals and I actually like both guys.

Should it have ended some time ago? Perhaps, but I loved how we’ve gotten a long-term story that’s gradually evolved over time. It’s the most I’ve been interested in a wrestling storyline in a long ass time, and I’ll be sad if i gets totally dropped.
I do think we should wait a month or two to say it’s been shelved though.

It’s the best story in ages.

I really, really really REALLY want Ciampa and Gargano to take a long, LOOOOOOONG break from each other. I'm beyond tired of their association.

I don’t have a problem with the most convoluted, nonsensical story in wrestling history getting shelved.

It's like NXT's version of the overly melodramatic main roster angle. Except just much, much longer.

I'm cool with it because the storyline was already f***ed up anyway.

I thought it should've ended at Takeover: New Orleans last year.
It's nice seeing Gargano as a face again though, even if face Ciampa is REALLY weird. lol
