Oh god, his entrance is going to be absurd. What 80s action movies hasn't Triple H ripped off yet? Commando. He's going to walk to the ring carrying a phone booth on his shoulders with Drake Maverick inside it. "Remember when I promised to siphon off your heat last?" "That's right, Hunter! You did!" "I LIED-UH!"

Unapologetic Hunter mark here. I kind of wish he were a bigger part of the show each week. At the very least his Mania matches have been the highlights of the last several years for me. But more than Hunter, I think the company need to stop featuring legends and focus on the current generation. That includes Austin, HBK, Hogan and the interminable, awful appearances for The Rock from time to time. Just enough, and if that means I don't get any more Hunter then so be it. Austin barely shows up once a year.

The company needs to stop relying on the nostalgia pop and stop trying to recreate stars of the past.

Another thing in light of the direction they're taking this feud.
Triple H is known and shown to be a Grade D babyface. No sympathetic angle nor any vulnerability whatsoever. Batista is back in the fold for Wrestlemania season in what will likely be his very last match. What are the chances midway through the angle, never mind Wrestlemania itself, that Batista wins over the crowd(s) and they start crapping all over their designated conquering HHhero? (A la the Lesnar feud) I'd say very high.
And then there's always the Heel-Face flip-flopping that H & Stephanie seem to do over the better part of five years now. It'd be so much better for the company if the entire McMahon clan fell back and not have their grubby mitts all over the product this time of year.

Yeah and in fairness to Triple H, the last few years he has shown himself way more willing to put over younger talent, including at Mania. I usually prefer if the legends work with younger guys, but there are pros and cons to each.

It's sad that while talented guys are leaving because they're frustrated, guys like Triple H and Batista will be prominently featured in Wrestlemania, fourteen years after their Wrestlemania main event. If they put as much effort into everyone else as they do building Triple H's overhyped precious legacy, they would be in a much better position now.

You'd think he would've learned his lesson from Crown Jewel.

How dare he have a **** match once a year! I can't tell how this post is sarcastic: is it taking the piss out of this thread or actually agreeing with it? Has Triple H had that many good Wrestlemania matches in, say, the past 10 years? Since 2009, he's wrestled - Randy Orton in the main event for the WWE title. - Sheamus in a singles match. - The Undertaker in a No Holds Barred match. - The Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell match. - Brock Lesnar in a No Holds Barred match. - Daniel Bryan in a singles match. - Sting in a No Disqualification match. - Roman Reigns in the main event for the WWE title. - Seth Rollins in a non-sanctioned match. - Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey in a mixed tag match with Stephanie McMahon. Of these, I think only 4 stand out as being exceptional: the two with the Undertaker, the Bryan match, and last year's mixed tag match. Even then, I know a lot of people aren't huge fans of the 'Taker matches, so only the Bryan match and the mixed tag match stand out as being well-liked by the majority of comments or reviews about them that I've read (or remember reading at the time). Still, the majority of Triple H's matches have had bells and wells to cover up a lot of weaknesses of the match-up itself or the feud leading into the match: weapons, no DQ rules, false finishes, match stipulations, run-ins, and so on. It will likely be more of the same with Batista, which isn't even a fresh pairing, minus the face/heel alignment (maybe). I don't know. Triple H, to me, as a fan who stopped watching in 2016 precisely when he won the WWE title, again, is completely unnecessary as a TV presence, and the same goes for his wife, his father-in-law, and brother-in-law. He's not even uninteresting in a 'boy, I hate how uninteresting this guy is' kind of way. The very idea of a Triple H Wrestlemania match in 2019 is so whatever, a forgotten fart in the wind, that I'm totally perplexed why it will be a thing.

How do we know that Batista didnt request Hunter as his last opponent? Considering he's been on record to say that he wants his last match to be against HHH, I'd say that's not even in doubt.

See I don't understand the complaint about Hunter at Mania cause... it's not like he wins. Tho rather then Dave I would have rather seen him go against Ambrose to complete him feuding with each member of the Shield at Mania, plus his Roadblock match with Dean was damn good.

Part of it I think is that people would rather see that spot go to someone current. I generally don't mind him being involved in WM except for 2016 when he was Champion and main eventing with Roman. There was no excuse for that.

I wish the fans would give him the standing ovation he's so desperate for. I think the people who attended SummerSlam 2012 STILL chant "You tapped out!" when they see him.
