Harley's former business partner and current Championship Wrestling From Hollywood promoter David Marquez posted on Facebook:
"I’ve just spoke to Harley Race’s family and it’s true, he has been diagnosed with Lung Cancer, but it’s not terminal. He’s being treated and supervised by his doctors. He is still very active in the Harley Race Wrestling Academy and his promotion World League Wrestling. Also, next weekend’s NWA Worlds Championship match at WLW’s “Night of Champions” is still on and previously I’ve already made plans to attend. Harley and his family appreciates everyone’s concern and asks that the public to allow him his space to rest."

Really glad to hear that it's capable of being treated. & really don't appreciate the unnecessary scare from Flair. C'mon man, cancer itself is bad enough.

Good news. I hear the cancer heard who it was dealing with and backed down from its terminal status.
Ric may have chosen the wrong word at the time, and it happens, but yeah don't scare us Flair...

Updated the thread title. Since the family themselves haven't commented on it, will leave it at that title until more information is released.

Doctor: “Harley your lung cancer is terminal”
Harley: “It’s treatable”
Doctor: “But it says right here that-“
Harley: “ I said it’s treatable”
Doctor: “ My mistake. It’s treatable.”
Doctor walks out of his room crying

I f***ing hate Ric Flair. I wish him and Hogan would go the f*** away and stay there.
I've heard talk that Harley has been getting more frail over the last year or so. Whatever happens, I hope he is able to live comfortably with what time he has.

Lung cancer never caught an ass whooping like it's about to catch.
Also, lay off Grampa Naitch. He may have spoken out of turn, but he has all the love and respect in the world for Harley and if he did so it was an honest mistake.

This is the third time in a short few years Flair has blurted out something like this in an interview environment. Not real sure I'm cool with him handing out private health information like that. I remember he told some personal info about another wrestler but can't remember who. What other times did he tell personal information? The only other one I know of is him letting it slip about Bockwinkel having dementia, and his family was not happy at all

He also let out Mulligan was dying iirc.
We've all got that friend, no? The one who you tell anything to, the whole world will know, not because they're malicious but they just can't help themselves.
Anyhow, terrible news. Harley's a legit one of the GOAT. Wishing him all the best.

Flair just seems to blurt out this shit at random times.
He said Bockwinkel had dementia, Steamboat was in poor health, Mulligan weighed 400 pounds, and now this. Seriously, shut up, Ric.

I mean, clearly Ric meant well, but if Harley wanted that info out there, I think he would've put it out there himself.
Either way, kick it's ass Harley.

I remember he told some personal info about another wrestler but can't remember who. What other times did he tell personal information? The most notable were Blackjack Mulligan and Nick Bockwinkel. I don't remember the Mulligan fallout, but Bock's family was livid about it. He also did something similar regarding Terry Funk, but Funk no-sold it when asked.

I know Ric has a history of doing this but it could also be a case of a fan needling Ric about an elderly wrestler to the point that Ric just blurts out something.

Best wishes to Harley, hope it all goes well for him.
Whether it's accidental or he thinks it's already public knowledge or whatever other reason it may be that's causing him to blurt out these things, if I'm somebody that knows Flair, I'm only telling him ridiculous made up stuff from now on.

Fans have a tendency to ask wrestlers questions and if the wrestler is brief with information, the fan needles the wrestler to the point that the wrestler reveals something salacious or private information. I've been to enough autograph shows to know what kind of information the fans (and I am proudly a huge fan) expect from the wrestler. I also have a co-worker who needles the other employees until the employees wind up saying something negative about the other employees or the company.

Flair and Hogan were having a moderated Q&A on stage at a Hard Rock Cafe. There are no reports of any fans turning Flair into a blubbering, blabbering pile of goo at said event.
