Roman's best when he's this dude. Just relaxed, just speaking from the heart, just being him. Even his promos just sound better these days. Shit, this is the Roman we always need to see. It feels like he's finally become who he needs to be and it really sounds like he's as little stressed as can be in the company.

Didn't watch. We getting more "real life Joe" in the character finally? Feels that way. He said he wasn't out there to get the Lesnar match from Rollins and he wanted to reunite the Shield because who knows how long they'll be wrestling together. Given all he's gone through it sounds like his perspective's really changed on what he wants out of being in the company.

He has the look of a man who’s beaten cancer twice. And anything else that comes his way is like “No big deal.”

I only caught the opening segment but Roman seems way more comfortable being a more authentic and true to himself kind of presence. There was always something about the Vince material that never fit him right; he wore it weird, never really finding a groove with all the hats and inconsistencies involved in what he was expected to be. I know he's going to have to get a little less "real" as time goes on and he settles back into the everyday again, but I really hope that he's able ot hold onto this essence of himself with it, and that he has the ability to put more of that into what he's working with, because it's doing wonders for the guy. Only John Cena could do John Cena, Roman Reigns has got to be his own thing.

That was something that Reigns had struggled with forever, because "Roman Reigns" for a long time was just a Frankenstein-ian amalgamation of traits from just about every top face they've ever had, all to try and find the key to getting him over the top as the company ace. It's not rocket science, you have to let Roman Reigns make himself happen.

He looks so much cooler without the stupid vest. He was great this week in his segments too.

It's not rocket science, you have to let Roman Reigns make himself happen. It's the less on that should have been taken from every top face prospect both failed and successful for the past thirty years; when you force it or try to make the guy echo who the last guy was, it fails. Roman was All American Lex Luger in an era where Vince is too stubborn to take a hint.

We always said if Roman found his own voice he'd be golden.
I assumed he'd have to heel turn to get to it, but we took an unexpected route to get there.
I said in my review last week, let him dress like this ALL the time. It suits him much better. If Cena can still dress like he's going to play f***ing basketball after the match almost 2 decades later, Roman can rock the chill look too (and more naturally).

His look even looks better. If he brings back the vest for matches and shit fine but this presentation wise just gives off such a cleaner look for the guy. His presence and mic work sounds like he's being minimally scripted and he might very well be at this point out of respect and it's very much working for him.
Almost like wrestlers being overly scripted is detrimental to their overall growth and development and if you let them just have some free reign (ha) then maybe you'll start seeing a better product, and Roman is a prime example of that.
Just my daily reminder that I miss Talking Smack a ton.

Just my daily reminder that I miss Talking Smack a ton. Which reminded me that there was a time when I actually liked Baron Corbin, ye gods.

Just my daily reminder that I miss Talking Smack a ton. Which reminded me that there was a time when I actually liked Baron Corbin, ye gods. Baron Corbin may be the biggest example of WWE's writing weaknesses. The dude had a better cadence and presence with no script than he ever will with this mass produced garbage they have given him with this gimmick and screen time. It's just made him intolerable. I remember his Talking Smack where when asked if he could retire Taker he said something along the lines of "It's great that Undertaker wants to keep working, because the world needs ditch diggers", and I just thought "Man, imagine if we actually got THIS guy". In WWE's shitty product you never will.

In WWE's shitty product you never will. As I've mentioned in previous posts, his time on UUDD has made me a fan of the guy outside the ring. In the ring (and on air), they've saddled him with too much whining and not enough proper character, making his segments tedious and boring. Hell, the same could be said for guys who DO have rapport with the audience. When you've got guys like Baron, Elias, Strowman, even Roman, all feeling like they're being shoehorned into positions that aren't quite what their full potential is, they've got to take a deep look at what made their product great in the first place and let these guys organically find themselves rather than force words in their mouths. They'll never learn how to act on their feet if they're being taught the old school ways in the PC but locked in on the main roster.

It's hard not to like Roman when he's talking off the script. It's the "act" that's insufferable... and most of his matches.

Tranquilo Roman is top notch considering that he does whatever he feels like. He's more loose and his presentation is easier to digest as a whole.

Roman being himself instead of the signature Vince McMahon-micromanaged superpush to The Guy is what needed to happen all along. THIS is what gets him over as a face. Let Roman be Roman and you get good results.

I think it would be cool if he just wrestled in athletic gear like that. Like running pants and whatnot. Kinda like a sly mirror to Dean always wrestling looking like a crazy dude off the streets, Roman could be that chill dude. I don't want to see him wrestle in generic trunks like everyone, and I think he should leave the Shield vest in the past.
Maybe they can switch his theme or at least remix it.
Or honestly, just let him do what he's comfortable with because he's obviously beloved when he's clearly being himself.
