One of my top ten favorite wrestlers period, honestly. What a career. He’ll be remembered as one of the most influential light heavyweights in any part of the world.

I can’t say anything more than anyone else’s said. He’s one of the greatest and most influential wrestlers of his generation and him going out at the WK double header next year is perfect.
Also, I know the guy he’s facing next weekend in Dublin in Scotty Davis, who is now technically part of his retirement tour. That’s wild.

To give you an idea of the impressiveness of this man's career, he's retiring NOW, 23 years after surviving and beating a BRAIN TUMOR that didn't even keep him out of the business for a year! What an absolute f***ing unit! Damn few better than him. Damn few.

Beside being one of the best wrestler of all time, Liger also has the best gimmick of all time, literally being based on an anime show.

Beside being one of the best wrestler of all time, Liger also has the best gimmick of all time, literally being based on an anime show. Here is Liger with the creator of the anime, Go Nagai. While the anime wasn't a total failure, it didn't exactly set the world on fire either. Liger the wrestler is way better known than the show, as the show only lasted a year. To think that a gimmick like this would last 30 years is incredible, almost on the level of Undertaker lasting as long as it did

There’s been a handful of wrestlers that blew my mind the first time that I saw them. I still remember WCW playing a hype video announcing that Liger was coming and the mask and all of the wild moves that no one in America was really doing absolutely changed what I thought wrestling was and could be, and the I saw him wrestle Brian Pillman and that really put both of them over the top for me, Liger is one of the most influential wrestlers to ever live. Just amazing.

Definite legend, hugely influential, and seeing him pull out Kishin Liger one last time in a special match would be great. But also underrated straight man comedy-wise. Ebessan, Tiger Mask and Liger vs. Perro, Kuishinbo and Super Delfin. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUoQVBzeZXc

Liger is one of the reasons I got into wrestling. I mean, look at his gear, it stands out. He got me to buy the WWE Network for the fact he was wrestling in a WWE ring and in that match he showed that he was a master of psychology and body language.

I’ve always had him as my #2 behind Eddie, but Liger should probably be #1 for the career he’s had. To be at his age having gone through what he has and still perform at a high level is crazy.
There was an insane stat recently that Liger ended a monthly performing streak that saw him not miss a match for 20+ years or something. That’s including a period of time where the man had cancer and surgeries.
I’m making it a mission to meet him next month in NYC. Just want a chance to say “thank you” in-person.

I hope he enjoys his retirement it is well deserved. Thankfully there is so much footage of him out there even if we get no new matches there's so many years worth to enjoy.

I am so glad I finally got to see him live at ROH Global Wars, but I am kicking myself for cheaping out of paying for an autograph session.
Anyone know if he has US dates booked this year?

Easily one of the greatest of all time, I would say THE greatest junior heavyweight of all time. I am glad he got to retire on his own terms and I hope we get to see some great matches leading to his retirement. Personally, I would like to see a nice mixture of old opponents and new ones as well. On the New Japan roster I want him to face Suzuki the most, then Hiromu, Kota Ibushi, Ishii, El Desperado and of course we will get one more Tiger Mask match. But I would love to see old opponents like Great Sasuke, Ultimo Dragon and unfortunately he screwed up, but I really want one more Koji Kanemoto match. Another one I would love to see, that would be very emotional, Brian Pillman Jr.

He was a huge influence on me. My backyard wrestling mask for my YAK MAN character was a mashup of Hayabusa and Liger. And his music is easily my favorite theme song I didn't want to use his song directly, but I used something that evoked the same kind of feeling

Obviously there are guys that are better currently, but he's had such a long, groundbreaking career. Rey Mysterio Jr. I guess would be at a close #2.
