Although I’ve never read the novel, I have to say, this has my attention. Damn fine cast: Michael Sheen, David Tennant, Jon Hamm, Nick Offerman, Michael McKean, Anna Maxwell Martin, Reece Shearsmith, Steve Pemberton, Mark Gatiss and Derek Jacobi. Plus Brian Cox, Frances McDormand and The Cumberbatch doing voices.

It is a wonderful collaboration between Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, thought I'd say it is much more strongly Pratchett flavored. Very funny. This trailer really looks like it is nailing it.

Never had any desire to read anything by either of them, just not the sort of book I’m interested in. I much prefer watching fantasy stuff than reading it.

Prefacing this with saying that I love Neil Gaiman, but, having never read the book, and knowing it's a Gaiman work, is there an awful maternal figure somewhere in there?

I really liked this book. It was a wonderful collaboration between Pratchett and Gaiman and I love that Gaiman is serving as showrunner here. I just wish Terry was still alive to see this come to fruition.

I just wish Terry was still alive to see this come to fruition. Yeah, he was justifiably skeptical of it ever really working out after some Hollywood dolts wanted to do Mort but "without the Death/skeleton bit" Specifically in reference to Good Omens

Love the book. This cast looks stellar and Gaiman is mainly doing a tv series cuz he promised Pratchett he would so the quality control should be there as well.

I'm looking forward to this so much, after having loved the book for so many years. While I am a fan of Gaiman (though I often find his writing a little cold), I'm here for Sir Terry Pratchett's humour. Both he and Gaiman said that Sir Terry did most of the writing, using ideas that they came up with together (Gaiman was busy with Sandman), and it definitely shows. The warmth and the irreverence are very recognisably Pratchett.
The casting seems to be mostly spot on (except for Jack Whitehall, which is still a confusing choice, but I'm happy to wait and see what he does), and the trailer evokes the feel of the book nicely.

That's why I never made it all the way through the novel. I like Gaiman, but it didn't read like a Gaiman novel.

Series is up now. I've only seen the first episode but so far it's fantastic.

First episode - It definitely captures the voice of the book, although perhaps too literally. I'm not sold on Frances McDormand narrating. For the prologue it was fine, but to keep it sprinkled throughout the episode was an odd choice. A lot of it was too on the nose for a TV show. I get the feeling that Neil Gaiman wanted to preserve as many of Sir Terry's jokes as possible.
Lots of familiar faces, which gave the show a sense of importance. Tennant and Sheen were both really good, as I expected them to be. Crowley's dissolute charm and Aziraphale's fussiness were perfect. And their alter egos, the nanny and the farmer genuinely had me laughing.
The effects are a bit cheap looking, and more what I'd have expected of the BBC than Amazon, but they fit the show.

I think I'm gonna try Amazon just for this. Like, my first exposure to Terry Pratchett was the Discworld point and click game on the PS1. Later on as I got interested in reading, his Discworld series definitely sparked an interest, and in a way gave me a much better grasp in understanding the English language. Like, I speak Filipino, but I write in English, so the Discworld novels were one of the things that improved my English. As I was starting to get interested in the Discworld stuff, Good Omens came into my sights, and I enjoyed the whole thing. Hell, one of the first things I bought on my own was a copy of Good Omens. Not the original book, but the paperback with two versions; one that was white and had Aziraphale on the cover, and one black one with Crowley. Picked the latter, and from that point on I'd buy the Discworld novels.

I enjoyed it.
I liked the way they played the relationship between Crowley and Aziraphale in that there was just enough that it could just be a friendship that shouldnt be, but if you want it to be, it's also deeper and they clearly love each other - but nothing is overt, so it cant cause controversy and overshadow the show.
Some great moments, and while there are some definite design choices that are a bit odd (the whole design of Hell and the demons are off, and the Four Horseman all look cheap as anything), everyone is solid in doing what they're asked and there are some good laughs sprinkled about.

I'm three episodes in. I'm suspecting I'm not going to get an appearance of the Other Four Horsemen, namely Grievous Bodily Harm, Cruelty to Animals, Really Cool People, and Treading In Dogshit (formerly All Foreigners Especially The French, formerly Things Not Working Properly Even After You’ve Given Them A Good Thumping, never actually No Alcohol Lager, briefly Embarrassing Personal Problems, and finally People Covered in Fish)
