They wanted attention and heat. Looks like they got people pretty worked up.

Or maybe this just shows that what they’re actually doing is working in getting attention (ps it’s a work!). Now, I feel from a quality standpoint, the breaking the fourth wall stuff is lame, but it does seem to generate more buzz. Since I'm sure kn's tired of pointing this out by now, I'll do it for him.

so is this angle on a par with the invasion angle now?
it seems like they've turned a sure fire hit into a booking disaster

Let's be honest if this was another wrestler doing this they'd be looked as the next wrestling messiah.

Let's be honest if this was another wrestler doing this they'd be looked as the next wrestling messiah. Not really. Some people will behave as such, but I can assure you that there is a tolerance line that is crossed eventually.

Considering how many people are already tired of the worked shoots and the massive backlash Triple H got for his own (face!) promo, I'd expect similar backlash towards almost anyone else if they went this far with the nonsense.

Let's be honest if this was another wrestler doing this they'd be looked as the next wrestling messiah. No. No. Goddammnit man don't start on this "Oh but if Daniel Bryan did this we'd all love it". Worked shoots rarely work, but when they do get praise it's for the veneer of believability; even the Summer of Punk was divisive between people who feel it walked the line and never went out of its way to actually scream it was fake by framing those issues in a kayfabe way, while others still think nah it wasn't a good idea. Worked shoots happen all the f***ing time and they are notoriously poorly received around these parts, your post is completely off the mark. Like f***, Triple H just had a promo on Monday where he said "Richard Fleihr" over and over and it's been mercilessly shit on all week

Yep, we still make fun of that here. Doesn't matter if it's Ronda or an "internet favorite" like Becky, Bryan, Punk or anyone else. Most of us here at FAN hate these kinds of promos, for good reason.

Dammit, Ronda could have been the WWE’s Kazushi Sakuraba, but instead she’s turning into their Koji Kitao.

I'm thinking about how hot Becky was around November, the idea of women main eventing WM and then we get a few days before Fastlane where shit really feels like, how did they screw up so much? How?
It's baffling the amount of angles that fall down the cliff when they start doing too much with them. I don't even think the Bryan/Authority stuff before WM30 was even this wild. We just wanted Bryan in that spot and then it gradually happened a more natural way because they had no choice. In this case they know we want it but they keep trying to turn it into something that's not it.

She came in and took to this wrestling shit really well right away, but we all knew she was going to start getting booed at some point. That's just how it is with unbeatable babyfaces. I don't know if I could've seen THIS coming, though. lol

Now, I feel from a quality standpoint, the breaking the fourth wall stuff is lame, but it does seem to generate more buzz. This has to be asked again; How does any of it benefit the product? If Batista and what people called the best Raw in a while can’t get people watching, what’s Ronda’s shoot promos doing? Jack crap from what numbers are saying. Social media reactions are great if you’re an instagram influencer or a Let’s Player. A corporation as big as WWE, though...not so much. Not saying it’s a good business model, but they seem to like getting this kind of “buzz.” Whether it’s as far back as CM Punk, or the Daniel Bryan real-life B+ player turned meta-angle, or Lesnar cutting open Orton hardway, or Cena calling out The Rock’s notes on his arm, or the Lesnar shoot stuff last year (including the very similar leaking of Lesnar’s unhappiness). Whether they capitalize on this type of buzz is questionable I suppose, but I guess it’s only speculation whether they would make more money running straight feuds instead of these worked shoot angles.
