I'd love it if Cabana wins the New Japan cup and faces/beats Jay for the IWGP title at the Garden.

Is NJPW really doing anything different with their mega pushes of Jay and Omega before him? Omega is a proven draw on both sides of the ocean. To conflate him with Jinder and Jay is wrong. He is, though I'd argue he wasn't initially, they had to give him that chance to draw. Then again, the same was true of Okada. When he was made champion, he wasn't the Okada he is now, he was a punk kid with threads saying the Rainmaker was a shitty finisher, that he should just end matches with the tombstone, and that a short-arm clothesline as a finisher was a joke. Gedo, for his faults, is pretty ballsy when it comes to trying to invest in someone, and it worked with Okada and Omega. I hope this doesn't blow up on him with Jay.

...wait, this is the MSG show? for real? If I had bought tickets to this I think I would have had a panic attack when Jay White won the belt. Yeah! This is the big show. Another promotion sold out the garden. The main event is a new blood shaky heel. Not the biggest stars in the promotion putting on the largest match possible. Jay White in a filler defense. Again! No offense to Jay White. I like the guy, but goodness what a disappointment. But I guess you can do whatever you want when you sell out a show without promising a single thing in advance And also like, to be blunt Wouldn't it be infinitely cooler for the big representative of New Japan in this big stateside show be....well, a Japanese man? Especially one that you immediately think of when you think of New Japan like Tanahashi, Okada, or Naito? I don't know, I just can't help but find it a lil odd in this case where it's like such a significant show.

Guess it'll depend some on his opponent, which may be one of them, not really sure who the fave to when the tournament is.

I have no idea why NJPW management thinks that they NEED a white face in front of their stateside shows. It's called New JAPAN. People aren't going to be surprised to see a japanese person on top.

Even Meltzer, who is essentially the Elite manager, had to admit that the US shows were suffering because they focused too much on non-njpw talent. Gedo wants a top foreign star, it’s understandable but forced and the timing hurts White, who would glow in any other scenario. But this is the result of sacrificing a whole year for part timers. It’s gonna be a great show match quality wise, Naito/Ibushi might tear the house down, but the booking and timing is in a super weird place right now. The DDT show looks way better

Gedo and the rest of the company have been high on White for a long time. I didn’t see him winning his first heavyweight title so soon, but he was always going to be booked strong. If anything, he’s a victim of his big push coming during the peak period of Omega and him becoming such a big draw stateside.
White is very good, but he’s young and still evolving, so he can drop the belt at MSG and not be too damaged. But I get why he’s champion now, because if they want White to be taken seriously and become a draw in his own right, he needs to start winning big matches eventually.
Omega is an amazing performer, but it wasn’t just match quality that elevated him, he also rarely ever lost in NJPW after he won G1 26.

If King and PCO win the IWGP Tag Titles, that'll be 4 tag belts King will currently have.

so unsure if an angle or not, but Silas Young expressed some pretty harsh opinions on twitter about not getting on the Anniversary show and also with this Supercard

Ospreay challenged Cobb for the NEVER Openweight/ROH TV winner-take-all match, so I'm lifting the spoiler from the OP.
