Holy hell, the Orton / Styles and New Day / Vince promos were both freaking amazing. I have no clue which one was better and both should be incredible in video package form.
And for that matter the Shane one was pretty good too. Some great lines from Charlotte and Becky as well.

It actually boggles my mind how good Smackdown's promos have been compared to how absolute shit RAW's have been...

This is how the shows should be booked. Segments like that furthering the character and story progression with fewer matches with actual consequences or story progression.

They all stayed within canon too and didn't go too far into any meta shit. Just two dudes pissed off shit talking each other, a great fiery promo about being held down versus a boss who just can't see their true potential and wants to put out that fire. And Shane just being a dickhead.

Smackdown's promos are so much better than Raw's right now, people sound like they believe what they are saying and they aren't trying to go this is real with it

I thought this Smackdown was oddly heavy on the tag team matches. Except, even more oddly, the tag team they apparently offered millions to and would like to keep. (What?)
But yeah. Kofi, and Vince for that matter, were great.

It’s an hour shorter, and yet, feels like it got infinitely more accomplished.

I loved both sets of promos. Kofi cut his greatest one and Orton of all people showed more fire than he's had in years. Love it.

BANG... Now we got a super hot program with Bryan/Kingston. BANG... Another one starting to heat up with Styles/Orton. BANG... People were iffy on Miz/Shane but it did what it needed to do. And BANG... Lynch and Charlotte starting the process of reeling back their angle from the edge of collapse with good work from them.
That’s exactly what they need to do with the weekly TV. Matches are always going to be the name of the game, it’s not professional talking after all, but you gotta have your extra spices and such to give it the flavour they need. They did that tonight, now to keep it going.

Indeed, and the pacing was really good throughout. They got a heap done in two hours with virtually no filler.

I thought the only stumble was the weak end line delivery from Becky at the end of her promo. It didn’t sound like a closer line so it felt awkward when the segment ended

Comparing Smackdown’s heel roster to RAW’s heels is like night and day. We have heels on SDL who are fairly compelling and don’t make us want to change the channel, while on RAW... it’s the total opposite.

Think of the last shakeup, and how we noticed how much stronger SmackDown’s roster looked in comparison to RAW’s. And that was BEFORE they even decided to turn Bryan.

Shows are way more interesting when they are promo and storyline driven. Look at any successful period over the last 30 years. The long TV matches with no consequences are tedious and a chore to get through. Fans care about the entrance, finish, and storyline of a match. The in between should be as condensed as possible, unless it’s a PPV then they can go all out.

And I can’t wait for next week when Miz gets to cut a promo on Shane......
But.......
Imagine if instead, Shane is cutting another promo and Miz just viciously attacks him, and someone tries to interview him backstage, and he just walks away.
Imagine if he doesn’t cut a single promo, or even say one word before Wrestlemania, sell just how serious he is about taking Shane down, no bluster, no bragging, just righteous fury.
Have Shane prod him, “Come on, Miz, aren’t you going tell everyone how awesome you are and how hot your wife is, run your mouth like you always do?”
I feel like nothing would solidify Miz as a face more than having him stay quiet until Mania, sell the fact that Shane pushed him too far and now has to deal with a Mike Mizanin we haven’t ever seen before.
