I love the thought of Vince keeping these old ideas in a draw and pulling them out at random. It explains so much. Oh shit 2019 is the year we get the f***ing unfrozen Nazi isn't it?

I wonder if anyone pitched a "She's All That" type angle with one of the girls on the roster JUST because he was on creative... I made a post about this in the SDL thread a couple weeks ago. Carmella doesn't really like R-Truth, she just made a bet with one of the other women she could make him the most popular boy in WWE. Naomi @ Carmella: "This is one contest you're gonna lose. You're going down, asshole."

I hear Ryback pitched the idea of Kofi existing to Kofi’s parents impressive considering Kofi is a few months older than Ryback Ryback’s creative genius knows no bounds

Are we sure Vince didn't just find a stack of old Freddie Prinze Jr. notes and remarked "Hey, these aren't half bad"

I always thought that Freddie Prinze Jr. was a great writer. Some of those late-2000's runs he helped booked were very entertaining.

It’s bizarre to me how frequently WWE change their writing team. Even if you’re an excellent writer, the chances of you being kept around for years is VERY slim.
We’ve seen writers come out and do interviews after the fact and they all talk about what stuff they wrote and it baffles me how good some of these ideas were and yet they were STILL let go.
The problem lies with the higher ups. Vince, Dunn and the rest of the producers. A lot of people blame the writing but you’d be surprised how often Vince makes them change shit and keep the show as formalic and basic as possible.
Hopefully this changes when HHH takes over. I want my wrestling unpredictable again.

Kofi was massively over around this time as well. But I just don't think this gauntlet match angle would have had the same emotional impact 10 years ago compared to now for obvious reasons. Freddie Prinze was a legitimately talented writer with great ideas though. This was the guy who booked Jeff Hardy's late 2000s run and he could have been bigger than Cena if he had stayed sober. That and learned to cut a promo. His mic skills at that time were so dire that I actually lost interest in him after being a huge fan for years. I remember his promos during the Orton feud to be very good.

I remember his promos during the Orton feud to be very good. Personally I felt they were mediocre. I remember Orton talking about Jeff winning his respect and Jeff said something like "I didn't do it to earn your respect, I did it to hurt you!" It was a solid line but his delivery killed it for me. It may be that past promos already had me not much caring for his speech style but he never seemed to bring any realness to his more intense stuff like that line. I know I was in the minority though as the crowd popped hard for it.

Interesting, and I agree. I like FPJr. You know of anything else he had a part of?

I loved Kofi during the Orton feud and the promo where he destroyed Randy's car.
