This includes the Nash commentary episode right? I've heard differing opinions on that, some say it was the worst, most self-indulgent commentary ever, and other say it was one of the funniest things Nash has ever done.

I remember taping that episode and it was hilarious, nothing of note happened on the episode storyline-wise that I can recall but damn it if Nash wasn't entertaining as f*** that night. I just want them to upload the ones from 2000, they were batshit crazy at times, though I liked the one where Randy Savage came back to help Ric Flair win a battle Royal against the New Blood.

I rewatch this every so often and I watched it most recently about a month ago here’s some highlights: It was ridiculous he opens by making a mockery of the fact that as booker he booked his own retirement because he was lazy and wcw was now making him announcer on thunder to recoup the loses. Al Green comes out and during his entrance Kevin sings “Let’s Stay Together”. He blatantly says very early in the show he’s trying to get fired because wcw is so stupid they’d still pay him in full to sit on his couch. He’s egging on Tenay & Larry Z to join him in the insanity but their not biting. Luger & Liz come out and he keeps talking about how big liz’s boobs are this was the moment where Larry decided to bite and began marveling at liz’s boobs and Nash is overjoyed. Buff interrupts the luger & Liz interview to hit on Liz and Rick Steiner attacks Buff then of all people La Parka makes the save with Lex,Liz and Steiner fleeing while laughing.Nash says little know secret Lex is terrified of Skeletons. He narrates a Sid/Goldberg video package spoofing NFL Films and talking about Lambeau Field.

My favorite moment in Nash's commentary is when he flat out admits that La Parka is in the main event tag match because everyone else didn't show up, and Tenay just loses it.

The Nash show always makes me wonder how the insider comedy show with Nash,Hall and Madden that was gonna replace WCW Saturday Night in the fall of 99 when Russo took over would have turned out.

Self-indulgent and unfunny like NWO Saturday Night. There’s a high chance of that what interested me was the plan was to have zero actual wrestling matches.I remember when Nash was booker he and madden used to do alternate commentary of ppv on the wcw website and they would just bury everything because their bosses weren’t paying attention and so few people were listening.

"Say what you will about Jim Duggan, but he has a way of always staying over."
Even in 2019, it still feels weird to have insider terms dropped that casually. Thanks Kevin.

I was watching the 12/23/99 Thunder where Goldberg puts his hand through the window of the limo and that part is in black & white, was it like that on the live broadcast? I can't remember.

Goldberg really should have just picked the steel bar up again. What a meathead.

They go from Stevie Ray vs Sid as the main event to a few months later bringing in the stars like Bret, Sting, DDP, The Outsiders, etc. That's pretty wild.

It's truly atrocious commentary, it buries a show that was already neck deep in soil. It absolutely should not have ever happened, and is a disgrace to the legacy of the second greatest wrestling promotion in American history. It's also an absolute f***ing lark, because Nash doesn't give a f***, the wrestlers don't know he's not giving a f***, and he keeps managing to sucker Tenay into breaking kayfabe too. It's a delight.

"This was originally booked as a hair vs. hair match."
In reference to Brian Adams vs. Horace Hogan.
Also:
Larry: Moses lost your car keys.
Nash: My car is in space 69.

He and Larry Zbyszko did a segment on Nitro where they said Thunder was bad because it was the B-show and needed the top stars. In December 1999, the Thunder tapings moved to Tuesdays so that the big stars would work them. Russo also ended the practice of having 2 Thunder episodes (one live and one taped for a week later) at the same show.
