Lipstick & Dynamite - a great look at the early decades of womens wrestling
Southern Discomfort - neat little doc (by Fred Olen Ray of all people - he moonlights as a wrestler) about a local Alabama indy putting on a show.

I love Southern Discomfort. Sadly it is OOP. Got a copy years ago. And have shown it to many people. Love that Fred and Dave Friedman are in the documentary. And so far it's the only documentary I have seen that accurately shows how indie shows in tiny deep south towns are. Heroes of Burke County is a good one. It is what inspired $5 Wrestling. And is on the Highspots Network. Can't remember the name of it,but there is a neat docu about IWA deep south and their annual Carnage Cup show. This is also on the Highspots Network.

Assuming the Andre documentary wasn't WWE produced (genuinely can't remember) I think that should be mentioned. I watched it over Christmas last year and thought it was excellent

Wrestling with Shadows was amazing, also I would consider Mickey Rourke's Wrestler a documentary just as much as any. Darren Aronofsky could have literally followed any combination of 1980s wrestlers and filmed almost the same scenes. I know some wrestlers, etc, hate it because it gives the impression everyone ends up like Randy, when the takeaway I think was more meant to be that he was a f***-up who squandered his body and money. If it was more true to most wrestlers' stories, I guess it'd have been less dramatic when he just sold real estate.

It was about 40 minutes which is really not enough for Andre but they had one show like that a week, I believe. When WWF came out with an Andre DVD (like an hour long) in the early 2000s I was hoping it was the A&E bio but was pretty disappointed when it was just a few Andre matches from the 1980s. It is pretty strange WWF never did come out with a definitive, if any, bio show on Andre.

The BBC did two documentaries on ICW when they were becoming a hot thing in Scotland. They also done a piece on Viper as well.

Gentleman's Choice, The Chris Adams documentary. I read the name in the Apter mags for years but all I saw of him were his jobber days in WCW. Man he was one f'd up dude.
Jim Crockett Promotions - The Good Old Days.
The Dynamite Kid - A Matter Of Pride.

One I saw on A&E a lot was The Unreal Story of Pro Wrestling. It focuses on the relationship between wrestling and television and how much of a mainstay wrestling was for TV.

Bruno Sammartino: La Mia Mama. Bruno talks about his career, his life and most importantly, his mom. He even goes back to Italy. It's a bit on the obscure side (the doc was made by/for Pittsburgh CBS affiliate KDKA and only aired twice to my knowledge), but is damn good.
