Seconds ago finished the first book in the Sword of Shadows novels by J.V. Jones, the Cavern of Black Ice.
It was like having a fantasy story take place fully on Hoth. The characters walking through the land parts of the book got a little tedious after a while as they always do but beyond that the book was flawless. I look forward to dig through more of the author's oeuvre.

Stayed up way too late last night wrapping up The Voice of Armageddon by David Lippincott.
One of the grey masses decides to make a name for himself with acts of terror. A highly recommended tale of psychological horror.

About halfway thru the Tony Atlas bio. Decent read. I never saw much of Atlas until hell the late 80s. So lots of this is new to me. Added bonus buddy I bought it off of included a WWECW era Tony Atlas trading card to use as a bookmark.
Am I the only one that uses common trading cards as bookmarks?
For example late last year I got a box of Deathwatch 2000 trading cards. Put together a full set and 90% of the insert cards. Used the rest as bookmarks in the various things I'm reading.
Started doing this back in the late 80s when I first started collecting non sports trading cards.

'Disarming the Narcissist' by Wendy Behary.
It was a book that I really needed for personal reasons.

Taking Shape by Dustin McNeill and Travis Mullins. This is a must-read for anyone that is a fan of the Halloween series. I just started Taking Shape II, which is about the lost Halloween Sequels.

Does manga count as book? If so, just finished the Black Cat Pirate arc of One Piece
It is so much better than the anime, which I struggled to get into

‘Elevation’ by Stephen King
‘Thinner’ was a horror story about a man suffering from extreme weight loss. This has a similar premise but the feeling is more of puzzlement and excitement rather than fear.

Meet Me in the Bathroom by Lizzy Goodman:
It’s an oral history, told my most of the participants, in the rock revival, in NYC, at the dawn of the current century. It primarily focuses on the Strokes, Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and James Murphy from LCD Soundsystem. It’s full of great stories from that era. If you like any of those bands, check it out.

Not sure it counts as a book exactly but Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption. Found the novella at Wal Mart and picked it up.

Also not a book, but I found my old copy of “My Immortal” the other day. I had to read it again and was delighted by the absolute awfulness of it. If you have never heard of it, please please please look it up and read it. It is the Harry Potter saga except all the lead characters are goth vampires. The spelling and syntax are so bad it is like reading another language. Everybody yells and curses at each other. There are sex scenes that are laughably unsexy. Voldemort speaks to everyone in “thy” and “thou” and “thee”. There are concerts and visits to Hot Topic and porn tapes and pedophiles. Each chapter has an introduction which details the author’s fight with her friend who may have stolen her sweater. And just when you thought you had seen it all, Marty McFly shows up in his Delorean. It is the most glorious train wreck of a story I have ever read and I have to find a nice safe place to store it again.

Have plowed through 3 horror novels in the last 2 weeks.
The Seeding by David Shobin (gynacological horror). The Voice of Armageddon by David Lippincott (one of the faceless using terrorism to finally be noticed). Entangled by Paul Jason and Jeffrey Sager (stalking /body horror).

Currently working on: "The Outlaw League And The Battle That Forged Modern Baseball" by Daniel R. Levitt. All about the Federal League. I've read it before (borrowed from the library years ago) and the wife bought me a copy for my birthday...2 months ago. (Aging sucks, can only go a few pages at a time. Small print even wearing "progressives": a nice way of saying lineless trifocals.)
Got the Andre book, too. (Birthday gift because it was my wife's birthday. House logic: she buys something for herself on my birthday, she gets me something for hers.) Enjoyed that very much.

It came out today and I'm about to start listening to it, but Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline, the long-awaited follow-up to Ready Player One. So technically, it's the next book and will be the last book I read.

Wrapped the novel Blackout by Chris Ryan.
Not much of a fan of protagonist has amnesia novels but when this one eventually picked up speed, it did so with gusto.

Edward Lee, you never disappoint. This time I read the Backwoods. He writes such sick shit, I love him.
