The Dodgers never-ending toy chest of super prospects to trade for stars has to eventually dry up, right? Lol

"Alex Verdugo and others" to Boston according to Ken Rosenthal, and there is apparently a 3rd team involved.
Huge deal.

A young outfielder who's already dealing with back problems? Sign me the f**k up, Red Sox management. I can't wait to see which pitching prospect dealing with UCL problems they're acquiring, as well.

Reports are that the Twins are involved, but then also reports saying Joc Pederson is going to the Angels, so seems like a lot missing in this puzzle.

I guess you've got to give Red Sox management credit for something: they stuck to their guns. When the rumblings of trading Mookie Betts for financial reasons first surfaced, just about every Red Sox fan was like, "No, what the f**k are you thinking? That's a really f**king dumb idea." And they stuck with it, despite about 97 percent of the fanbase absolutely loathing the idea.

They did it. The dumb sons of bitches in Red Sox ownership actually did it. They had a generational, Hall of Fame outfielder in the prime of his career, and they traded him. Because of money. I believe it was Pedro Martinez who criticized Red Sox ownership for trading or not re-signing their proven, established stars who have shown that they can perform at a high-level in Boston, but then turn around and hand a blank check to free agents who've never shown they can handle the pressure of Boston. Some have flourished (J.D. Martinez, Chris Sale) but many, many more have flopped (Carl Crawford, Pablo Sandoval, Hanley Ramirez). If Mookie Betts were, say, a Cub or a Phillie or a Diamondback, I can guarantee that Red Sox ownership would've made a play for him in the upcoming off-season, because of this weird fascination they have with everyone who isn't on the Red Sox. But because he's worn a Boston uniform for his entire career, he's suddenly expendable. So now the Red Sox are a week away from spring training, coming off a lackluster 84-win season, having traded their superstar outfielder, and have no manager, no bullpen, and are still awaiting penalties for the cheating scandal. This is about as low as I've been on the Red Sox since the team entered the 2012 season with Bobby Valentine at the helm. With Mookie they werent going to beat the Yankees. They have a ways to go. Imagine Mookie walks after this year and you get nothing, AND eat two more years of malcontent David Price. Mookie is going to be great for a while. But not 10 more seasons, certainly not 12 more.

Brusdar Graterol is also heading to Boston per Passan. #5 Twins prospect according to fangraphs. Sounds like a power closer type but still has chance to start.

So Verdugo, Pederson and Maeda for Betts, yea Dodgers win that trade. And they get Price, who is still useful, at half of his remaining salary. The Dodgers have the resources to keep Betts long term as well. Sounds like a pretty damn good deal for them, and they get to keep May and Lux.

According to MLB.com, the Dodgers have three top-50 prospects. The Red Sox got none of them.

When you can trade a transcendent, Hall of Fame caliber player for a low-end pitching prospect and an outfielder with back problems, you've just got to make that deal.
