From what I read, Dodgers are willing to take on Price so that is a big incentive Thats huge, because not only is Price costing a fortune but everything I hear makes him sound like a constant douche who has no desire to be in Boston. Sox depleted their minor league rosters winning the last title, trading Mookie can go a long way in helping to rebuild it. That being said if Mookie DOES want to be in Boston, then spend the money and keep him. If you have a middle lineup of Betts, Boegarts and Devers going forward I think you can build a lineup around them with spare parts. It is somewhat the perfect storm to trade Mookie to LAD. The problem is while Price is ideal to move, I think they'd lose some value prospect wise but it should still be a decent package Pades is also the option being reported to want Mookie in a trade and they def have the prospects to move a deal but in order to sign back Mookie they would have to almost triple the biggest contract they have given out plus find someone to take Myers

The Red Sox' managerial search has its first name, as ESPN's Enrique Rojas has reported that Boston will interview Diamondbacks bench coach and Colombian World Baseball Classic skipper Luis Urueta.

The big question is, will a new manager be for the short term Considering Cora still hasn't got his suspension yet, they probably are thinking ahead

The heat on the Mookie to LA rumors seems to indicate it’s all but a done deal. Think they’re holding onto it until after Kobe’s funeral

I wouldn't call Granderson a Hall of Famer in the slightest, but I liked him when the Yankees. Also seems to be genuinely one of the best people in baseball as far as attitude and giving back to the community go. Congratulations on a heck of a career, Curtis.

I'm not won over by Dusty and his 200 year old philosophy on coaching for the Astros. But it's only two years so I'll just grin & bear it.

Torn on the Larry Walker HOF induction. I know its a couple weeks back now but Im curious if the new school of baseball writer are more into the sabermetrics and putting stock in his WAR. He has the same WAR as guys like Jeter and Trout.

Steve Cohen has withdrawn from purchasing a majority of Mets per Rosenthal.
What a loser organization.
Edit: Apparently it's not 100% confirmed yet. If it is, it will mean that Barstool broke out. Yuck all over.

Mets can't even sell their team without something Metsy screwing it up.
Apparently the reason why Cohen is backing out is because the Wilpons changed portions of the deal at the last minute.

Same exact thing they did back in 2011 when Dave Einhorn nearly bought a 50% stake in the team. The Wilpons are awful, and are the one constant through all the stupid things the Mets have been through since Fred bought his half, and then entire, stake in the team after the '86 World Series. The fact that Selig forced Frank McCourt out of LA a decade ago but let the Wilpons stay is a stain on his already spotty record as commissioner. Screw this.

They did it. The dumb sons of bitches in Red Sox ownership actually did it. They had a generational, Hall of Fame outfielder in the prime of his career, and they traded him. Because of money.
I believe it was Pedro Martinez who criticized Red Sox ownership for trading or not re-signing their proven, established stars who have shown that they can perform at a high-level in Boston, but then turn around and hand a blank check to free agents who've never shown they can handle the pressure of Boston. Some have flourished (J.D. Martinez, Chris Sale) but many, many more have flopped (Carl Crawford, Pablo Sandoval, Hanley Ramirez).
If Mookie Betts were, say, a Cub or a Phillie or a Diamondback, I can guarantee that Red Sox ownership would've made a play for him in the upcoming off-season, because of this weird fascination they have with everyone who isn't on the Red Sox. But because he's worn a Boston uniform for his entire career, he's suddenly expendable.
So now the Red Sox are a week away from spring training, coming off a lackluster 84-win season, having traded their superstar outfielder, and have no manager, no bullpen, and are still awaiting penalties for the cheating scandal. This is about as low as I've been on the Red Sox since the team entered the 2012 season with Bobby Valentine at the helm.

Giving a smaller guy a big long term contract is a doomed scenario. At least for the final few. Sox sold their farm system out for a championship, it worked so you cant really blame them. As for getting rid of Price, good riddance
