Ooooo! This is going to be really good! I can't wait! Jim made some very interesting TV projects. They didn't always all quite work, but they were always worth checking out.

Any excuse to post the Jim Henson Hour - Dog City Oh my god the dog puns are like non stop in this. It is fantastic. We had it on VHS and it was passed around the family like one big inside joke. EVERYONE in my family would know a reference to this.

I’m not familiar with DefunctTV at all, but love all things Jim Henson’s. Does somebody mind giving me a brief overview of the show format? Is it straight documentary style? Does it cover one series at a time?
Thanks in advance, I’m curious to check this out

I’m not familiar with DefunctTV at all It's an offshoot of Defunctland, a video series that talks about theme parks and attractions that died off. They are worth a watch. DefunctTV has also covered Between The Lions, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Bear in the Big Blue House and more

Bear and Between the Lions are highly recommended in that regard.

Last summer the Skirball museum in LA had a big exhibit on Jim Henson that I got to go to and it was very fascinating. Very curious to check this out too. Never realized how many projects he was involved in.

It was something I always sort of knew, but never realized the full breadth of it. Even the non muppet things he worked on. Way more than you'd think.

So as much as I've enjoyed the series so far, what exactly is the theme of DefunctTV? At first it seems like they cover "kids shows" or more accurately, non-animated kids shows. But then I realize every single one he's covered so far features puppets or animatronics in them, and now I'm wondering if that's the theme.

I think he just covere shows that people in their late 20's and 30's will remember and share. lol

Yeah, but my point is he's doing the video because the series he's doing is directed at people in their late 20's and 30's who know Jim's 70's and 80's work. He's not doing the video for someone who remembers watching Sam And Friends in the 1950's. If all Jim did was Sam and Friends I don't think he would be covering it. He's doing it as part of the larger series heading towards videos on Jim's work that more people are more familiar with. It's a shame that so much of Sam and Friends is lost because I'd love to see more of it.

I'm going to watch this episode, but I would love to see Kevin take on another big project like this. Like, just straight up do Disneyland/World as a big series.
This dude is super talented.
