Interesting. Looks like I'm the first self-identifying woman in this thread.
The headcanon the Demon has generated within his fans seems to be lost to those outside Balor Club. If all you see is a headdress made of leather straps and chains, some labour-intensive bodypaint and over-the-top animalistic affectations and you think it's wonky, I don't know what to tell you.
Finn Balor is not for you. That's okay.

Lashley was the true demon tonight. That spear to the outside made me scream out loud watching live.

I feel this match probably just suffered from Triple H/Batista was too f***ing long syndrome and got some time cut.

I think that Balor needs something better in general. Awesome wrestler, great look, but he just doesn’t click for me right now.

With that kind of time and the card heirarchy, it had no selling point except the Demon.
I never felt like the Demon made sense, but at least thought the entrances were usually cool. It was lame by Demon entrance standards. The Cape was bad and I always hated the hat. The paint was good.
Lashley looked amazing with the lenses, but they don't really make sense at all with his gimmick with Lio.

God, it's the cringiest shit ever. The crawling, the hissing -- props to anyone he faces who doesn't straight up corpse. The whole thing needs a complete overhaul. Yeah, it's goofy on paper and in execution. The Undertaker gimmick may have been goofy on paper, but props to the man playing it for making it work. He carried himself like a badass. I think my problem with Finn is that he over-exaggerates everything to the point of sheer ridiculousness. There's no "mean streak" to the demon, there's no "somebody's gonna get messed up" vibe from the demon character. It's just Balor cosplaying, at this point.

It's closer to Boogeyman than Undertaker at this point. I'm not suggesting they give up on it totally, as there is money to be made. But every single thing other than the paint needs to be heavily tweaked.

Modern WWE is not the place for an interesting and sensible expression of The Demon as anything other than kind of neat big match stuff, but The Demon is also still the raddest shit even just from pageantry so I can't bring myself to care.

Making it a 'character' I think was a mistake cuz it does come across corny pretty often. Would be fine just some badass 'war paint'. Sting, Muta etc didn't need explanations for the paint, it just looked f***ing cool. Balor coulda followed suit.
The hat has always been dopey though.

Don't get me wrong, Finn's my favorite dude in WWE not named Daniel Bryan.
The design of this demon paint sucked and the hissing and "BLAH!" bit sucked.
If the design was more like SummerSlam '16 or Beast In The East, I would've been 100% on this Demon appearance.

I like the hat, I think it's sexy. The only thing I didn't like was that spiky backpack he had once.

Dude needs to take it farther. Glue some damn horns to his head, have his boots end in cloven hooves. You've got a fat contract and some damn talented costume/gear makers working in the back. You've also got fans, some that are likely talented and that can probably make you any damn thing you want. It'd be criminal not to take advantage of those resources.

I like the different entrances he does for the Demon as they are pretty much entirely unique ... not sure they needed to be a character trait other than... you pissed me off war paint... which is kinda what it was in NXT Making it a 'character' I think was a mistake cuz it does come across corny pretty often. Would be fine just some badass 'war paint'. Sting, Muta etc didn't need explanations for the paint, it just looked f***ing cool. Balor coulda followed suit. The hat has always been dopey though. Last night was I think the first time I didn't think the hat looked stupid... I'm not sure what it was maybe the thinner tassels...

On paper Finn has everything but something about him just doesn't click with me. I don't see him as a main event-level guy.

Finn Balor is not for you. That's okay. Honestly, if Finn was any different in the ring when he was 'The Demon' I might buy this. But he isn't. He's just Finn, wearing a lot of body paint. And that still managed to be cool, when the paint looked good. But the entrance has always been lame. All I'm getting is that this character is the absolute definition of 'skin deep'. They'd be far better if they just had the paint be a thing he does for big matches, because he's a dork who likes roleplay stuff. Fans could accept that quite easily, just like they apparently accept Triple H living out his pubescent fantasies of being various kinds of movie hero.

Finn as The Demon has turned into some Boogeyman-level shit.

My one issue with the Demon stuff is that there really isn’t any discernable difference aside from Finn crawling and sticking his tongue out a lot. He should be wrestling a different style as the Demon... one that emphasizes a more aggressive and ruthless style from his usual flippy stuff.
