WWE's use of this song on various 1999-2000 WCW shows is odd. The song is left intact whenever The KISS Demon uses it on Nitro or Thunder, but it is edited from his entrance on SuperBrawl 2000. KISS playing the song live on an August 1999 Nitro is cut, too.
Did the editors just get really sloppy or are those two instances of it being edited out unnecessary?

It wouldn't surprise me if it was a case of miscommunication between multiple editors.

probably sloppiness I know for awhile when the network launched if you watched Road Wild 97 Voodoo Child wasn’t edited off at all and it was all over the show from Hogan’s entrance to the backstage post main event promo to the multiple NWO riding motorcycles videos throughout the show but the song was edited off every single other show on the network.

Pretty sure that was a later change. If nothing else I know the first week or so the Network launched I watched Mania 19 on there and it had Voodoo Child.

Yeah sometimes themes that are usually edited fall through the cracks on one episode. Don't Go Messin' with a Country Boy is dubbed over when Hillbilly Jim and/or the Godwinns make an appearance but it played all the way through on a random episode of Raw from 1996.

With this KISS song, there are at least 5 instances on Nitro/Thunder episodes of The Demon entering to it with no editing. On a similar note, Nitro 62 has Chris Jericho's babyface theme (not the "Evenflow" ripoff) replaced by his WWE music, an edit not done on any other WCW shows.

I don't know if it's a similar situation, but Megadeth's "Crush 'Em" entrance for Goldberg is left intact on the Nitro episodes he uses it for.

They cut out Megadeth playing the song live on Jul. 5, 1999 Nitro, yet multiple episodes after that don't edit Goldberg using it as entrance music.

The odd one I found is Wrath's first theme when he was with Mortis. The PPVs they edit it out. Some Nitro it's there and other time it isn't. I'm not even sure who owns it because there never been a legit clear version released.

Could simply be a case where KISS's licensing deal paid them for all subsequent rebroadcasts of PPVs, and WWE just didn't want the paperwork or royalty hassles.

While the theme itself wasnt licensed music, the opening was taken from Van Halen's Running With the Devil: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bl4dEAtxo0Mwww.youtube.com/watch?v=pIgHh_X1Zcs

I can't imagine such a deal would apply to PPV only and not rebroadcasts of Nitro, Thunder, etc. That's why I'm thinking either those edits didn't need to happen or WWE got really sloppy and let the song slip through multiple times. WWE owns it since it was written for WCW by Jimmy Hart.

I like to imagine a rogue editor just saying, "I f***ing hate this theme" and editing it. I know Jericho never liked it.

Maybe... probably. But think about the timeframe. At the time, there was ongoing money to be made on PPVs (such as VHS and DVD sales), while TV broadcasts ran once and then evaporated into the ether. So it's conceivable that KISS's royalty deal applied to PPVs but not TV shows, because at the time, PPVs were the only thing monetized beyond their original showing. I just know KISS is pretty uptight about their IP...if there's a nickel to be made, Gene will find it. But yeah, it all could totally just be an oversight on WWE's part.

I always wondered why Sid's theme in his 99 and to the end theme was edit out to this really bad, sounds like early 90s How to video.

The intro to Sid's 1999-2001 theme sounds exactly like the intro to "China White" by the Scorpions. WWE owns Sid's theme and actually did not cut from shows until around 2016 or so. A lot of WCW PPVs had it when they first went up in 2014 but no longer do.
