He seems to be leaning into not being signed by WWE hard with that recent stunt charging $30 to touch his willy (or close enough to his willy anyway).
But you never know.
There are few guys as popular as him in wrestling that are not bound to a promotion. When AEW opened up they signed just about everyone featured prominently at All In that wasn’t already signed elsewhere, but they still haven’t signed him.

Literally the only thing he has going for him is a gimmick WWE wouldn't put on TV. Take that away and he's trash in the ring. He's got no chance.

I mean, maybe, though Joey seems like a guy who has a lot of freedom and likes having that freedom.

Vince learning about Joey's gimmick: I don't know, Vince has a juvenile sense of humor. He would probably piss himself at the vomit spot.

The gimmick is right up Vince's personal alley but they'd catch a ton of shit from the networks to the sponsors to the Saudis. They're not jeopardizing all that for a midcard comedy gimmick.

Yeah, Vince would watch a tape of his matches and say "now that's comedy, pal. Look at him! Look at his dick! Haahahaaa!" Then agree that they can't sign him.

They'd tone down his gimmick to where he's just a guy obsessed with hot dogs, roosters, and Richard Nixon.

Sure but he'd just be a big innuendo as a character essentially
If it looks like a dick, he will be standing next to it and touching it saying something obscene
Hell, for all might as well rehash Val Venis

If they thought they could make money off him. Yes

Joey Ryan's one of those guys that came along 20 years too late. He would've been money in the Attitude era, but no way in hell this gimmick ever makes the mainstream in this day and age.

He's exactly the sort of comedy Vince would love to get away with, but he can't get away with him, so I don't see it happening, and it's no major loss for either party.

Why not? They'll hire almost anyone these days.

But in his late 30s he's honed a gimmick that's making him tons of money while taking significantly fewer bumps. But yeah, Ryan's making a great living off what's he's doing, he's got tons of freedom, and now that the Lucha Underground contract situation has been cleared up I think there's every chance in the world he'll be AEW-bound, at least on a part-time basis if not full-time. I'm sure he could adapt to WWE, but it's probably not the right fit right now, and yeah, WWE would make things tone down quite a bit.
