Dave Meltzer on Observer Radio this morning said that Drew isn't hurt, and that they took him out mid-match because they didn't want people watching to remember that he was in the match and therefore be on the losing team. This led Dave and Bryan Alvarez to discuss the point of putting him in the match in the first place if they didn't want to beat him, and questioned why there wasn't anyone else they could have put in the match. Sorry, what? If I were Drew I'd have grabbed my shit and carried on walking. For a company that's micromanaged to the tiniest detail, they still don't have a clue what they're doing. Further more, pulling something like this shows they are aware that most of what they book isn't worth a damn and makes no difference to the overall product.

Is this one if those threads that, like, someone here made up and was picked up by "credible" sources? Becuase it makes about that much sense.

Man, it’s hard enough trying to de-stigmatise it when anyone takes a clean pin/submission loss, now they’re trying to protect someone from taking a passive clean loss and not even be ringside when the fall happens? WWE are making it impossible for themselves to book any result to the average TV wrestling match.

You couldn’t have used Jinder or any other heel? They don’t want people to remember he was in the match after the commercial break, lol, how dumb do they think fans are? Never mind I already know the answer.

Dave's answer adds more questions
I'm just going to pretend Drew ate a bad ham sandwich and had to take a crap

Did Dave state that as based on fact or was it supposition? Because it really sounds like supposition, for something that they've never tried doing before. Like, no-one who's opinion worth a damn would get fooled by that, surely.

Do they think that fans have the memory of a goldfish or something? We're gonna notice that.

When do they leave for the European tour? 'Coz I've got a feeling the craziness has already begun.
This can't be on Trips and Stephanie. I'm beginning to wonder if Linda stepping down from SBA is because WWE needs her back to help rein in Vince.

Mike Johnson at PWInsider reports that the originally planned main event for SmackDown was Kofi Kingston vs. Drew McIntyre, which is why Drew was at SmackDown, but once the six man was made, they were limited on time, and couldn't come up with something that would take Drew out of the match, so they simply told him to go to the back through the timekeeper's area.

That... doesn't make it any better.

I was wondering where the hell McIntyre went after the break. That explains it.

They couldn't just have him take a finisher and sell being knocked out?

Do WWE really thinks its fans are that stupid that they believe the fans would forget Drew was involved?

And this is how Vince has managed to spend the past decade smothering his own baby with a pillow.

So obviously Drew throwing his arms in the air was out of frustration, and rightly so. I've never in 30 years of watching this stuff seen a wrestler disappear mid match because the office regretted booking it.
f***, why couldn't you have Drew shove the ref and get ejected from the match or something? It would typically cause a DQ, but its still better than just vanishing.

It makes you wonder if they were supposed to do a spot where he got frustrated & walked out on The Bar, but they screwed up the timing & it happened during the commercial. Otherwise, this makes zero sense.
