I remember watching that moment and thinking how it didn’t made any sense lol. Why was a zombie driving a motorcycle?

Confusing at first, but then it was OK. He started speaking normally and his ring style was faster. I liked the biker character but nothing compares to the Deadman.

Honestly, if he was still doing the tombstone, it'd have been more fine with me, because the Last Ride was never a favorite of mine. Always just looked like he was f***ing up guys' gear just to give them a powerbomb from higher.

He was super over in 2001 coming into Wrestlemania. The crowds were wild for him.

Wasn't really my thing, and he's my favorite wrestler of the attitude era in WWE.
I did love his gimmick around 2006-ish though, the MMA-influenced deadman, having classics with Kurt Angle and whatnot. It was different in tone from the 90s, while still being the deadman.

I think it was rumored at the time so I wasn’t really that shocked. It was kinda lame he cause The Rock to get DQed and lose the iron man. Kinda made him look like an idiot.
It was fine for the most part. He had already dropped a lot of the zombie gimmick before he left and was pretty much booked as Mark Calloway cult leader. It was the days of the NWO. So a big name changing up their gimmick for a more realistic version wasn’t that out of the norm.
It gof better when he cut his hair and dropped the limp bizkit / kid rock themes for “you’re gonna pay. “ Then he was would just go around wrecking shit. Probably one of my favorite runs of the taker.

I hated it. Another guy coming in with that gimmick, or even someone like Billy Gunn returning from injury with the gimmick would've been fine for me, but The Undertaker was too big a departure for me, despite it actually reflecting the man himself. Putting aside 10 years of character development, he had his moments with the gimmick certainly, but still when I think of highlights from The Undertaker's career, I rarely think of anything from that time.

I liked it back then thought it fit in with the 'real' style they had going for them. Honestly I was more annoyed when he lost his super invulnerability he had in the early years. I wanna say he lost that in what, like 95? Annoyed the hell out of me as a kid. I'd say his beat down at Royal rumble 94 was the beginning of that.

At the time, I thought was cool. Looking back, though, ABA was kind of lame. However, I LOVED Big Evil. Him being a dick and wreaking havoc was awesome.

It involved Kid Rock and Limp Bizkit, so people loved it. 2000 was a weird time, man.

I didn't mind it too much only because before he came back in 2000, he started to dress up in street clothes when he would come to Raw/SD each week.

Yup, he just kind of transitioned to selling like a typical big man. I hated it back then but I get that the whole no-sell gimmick was getting stale by that point.

Pretty much exactly this. Why is he alive now? Why is he still the Undertaker but not at all? It was easy to buy into his gimmick with all his magical powers being real than to suddenly just accept he’s a biker now for no on screen reason.

His return at Judgement Day was great booking. I do prefer the Deadman gimmick overall but seeing this version for the first time wipe the floor with DX was great and the crowd really got so into it something you rarely see these days.

He didn't just drop it though really. He had already dropped parts of his gimmick before he went off tv in 1999.
He used to go around wearing black tracksuit bottoms and was called Mark by Vince on tv as well. I think the transition was slowely happenening anyway.

The return itself was electric, like unbelievably electric. That died a death for me the following night and I lost interest in Undertaker for about 3 years then
