Last March, due to fan fatigue, I decided to take a break from reading about wrestling on the internet. Since then, I've watched ppvs, raw, smackdown and nxt, but have actively avoided any wrestling websites (though I did go looking for the 2018 mspaint thread, because I couldn't miss that). This was mainly to see how much more or less I would enjoy WWE without following the backstage gossip. So, what's the verdict? Did you enjoy it more without social media?

5. What is Rhonda's schedule? I assume she doesn't work house shows? - She has worked house shows. She's worked more than Brock (not the best measure) According to Cagematch, Ronda had 67 matches between her first match (April 8th, 2018) and WrestleMania 35, of which 36 were on house shows. Since you mentioned Brock, for comparison's sake, he has worked 55 matches since his return in 2012, of which 19 were on house shows.

This reminds me of when I didn't have access to the internet at home in 1998 for about 6 weeks or so (and I wasn't addicted enough to want to use it in high school or the library). I remember thoroughly enjoying that summer of Raw and Nitro but when I came back online, god did everyone on the message boards just hate everything lol

Men's was basically 100% obvious months out, women's it was mostly a matter of, "Is it Charlotte or Becky winning and if so, does the loser get added later?" Yeah, following rumors on the internet does ruin some things such as the Rumble. We heard about Brock-Rollins being the possible Mania match for a long time before the Rumble. They were dropping quite a few foreshadowy hints for Rollins vs. Lesnar in the months before the Rumble, as Seth was taking quite a few shots in promos about Lesnar and his cushy schedule.

I think Becky’s ascension really began at Money in the Bank, you could really feel the fans pulling for her over everyone else and the commentary played it up that it was 2nd year in a row she was robbed and they started repushing her finally on that and the whole adding Charlotte to the SS match actually helped people back her more.
I’ll be honest, as good as Becky is now. I preferred this Becky last summer.

So, what's the verdict? Did you enjoy it more without social media? On the whole, yes. The highs were higher, but the lows were lower. Being online all the time, nothing gets too boring or too exciting. Pros: - I started to enjoy the product for what it was, not get annoyed for what is wasn't. - No jaded opinions, no constant exposure to negativity around the product, which I guess comes with any fandom. - The main catalyst for this experiment was how little I enjoyed the Rumble last year. It's not that I disliked it, it was just... there. This year though, I was the most excited i've been for the Rumble since the early 2000s. I loved it, but in hindsight, this years Rumble was not particularly special, but I honestly had no clue where the male side of the mania card was heading. - Batista's return was completely unexpected and awesome (though it was boring by week 2), and really felt like wrestlemania season had started. - Whenever wwe tried to something a bit more realistic, it was so much more easy to suspend my disbelief. For example. every time Brock showed up, I had no idea if it was his final appearance or not. It added a real edginess, unpredictability, and sense of danger to his appearances. I suspect I hated him way less that you guys did Cons: - The low periods of the year are sooooo boring without a forum to have fun with it, or follow the backstage politics. I nearly threw in the towel around October. wwe really need to up their game outside of mania season. - Being at the mercy of Vince's erratic opinion isn't always fun. I was hyped for the promos in January about some of the new talent coming up. I couldn't wait for Sami to return, and Lars to debut. Then..nothing. For 3 months. I honestly thought Sami had quit or been fired. - After a great show/match, I missed the discussion and analysis online. I especially missed this when Titus fell over at the greatest Rumble. I plan to go find the thread for that at some point. - It's nice to know why someone isn't wrestling. I don't think they ever addresses the reason why Alexa wasn't wrestling. I was concerned it was another Paige situation. Observations: - If they weren't on tv, I completely forgot about a performer. Like, in the space of a week. I forgot Bray Wyatt existed until that weird "chicken in a box" thing. - You only see what wwe want you to see. If they don't mention it, it didn't happen. I had no idea about Bret's fun at the HOF until this morning. I did wonder what happened to his hair half way through his speech though. In conclusion, i'm considering going offline again at Survivor Series next year (I don't think I can handle another Autumn with just wwe's storytelling to get me through). My enjoyment of mania season was through the roof compared to the past 10 years or so.
