New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that on June 29th, they will be going to Melbourne Australia, for a show titled Southern Showdown.
They did a tour in Australia last year which saw Robbie Eagles impress NJPW officials

Makes sense as a place they should hit, doesn't wrestling tend to do pretty well there?

The thread title makes it seem like they either forgot where they came from and took a wild stab at Australia or they're rebranding as New Australia Pro Wrestling.
I'm disappointed neither is the case.

Remember when Ospreay basically said he was going to move to Australia and be there pretty much FT around his New Japan commitments? Good times.
But yeah, Australia and New Zealand is relatively untapped. They already have Fale's school in that part of the world, touring there each year is a good other step as the WWE, even after all these years, has not managed, or not been willing to scour that market too much.

Tanahashi confirmed to be coming too. He wasn't part of last year's tour.

Shame I'm too broke to go to this. I'd like to see Tanahashi.

Okada's match in Australia against Slex last year gave us the awesome promo where he paused midway through to say "Sorry...my English sucks."

Looks like pretty solid shows. According to the New Japan Podcast they will not be able to air live on New Japan World, but will be available within 72 hours.

An extra note for people who are fans of OTT and PWA Black Label, Don Marnell will be colour commentating this show. He's had experience commentating matches with New Japan stars which makes him a good pick.

I get not being able to air it live, but 72 hours? By then any spoilers will be pretty much unavoidable. Didn't even think about that since New Japan has been airing everything live lately. It used to bother me when they would air tournament matches on delay and people would spoil them before they aired. I suppose just stay away from this thread. But either way, New Japan spoilers need some work, since I don't stay up until 4-5 am to watch the shows live. I usually just avoid this place until I watch them, but in this case we won't even get a chance.
