Still a big fan here. The years of yo-yo booking have taken a toll on his reputation, but I believe all it'd take is one good storyline and the right opponent. It'd be a lot easier as a babyface. I think he's at his best as the fiery, never-say-die type; His program against The Authority comes to mind, as well as the feud with Miz -- a lot of folks who were beyond sick of him by then still enjoyed it. Short answer: Daniel Bryan. Bryan will make him a big star again. Ziggler's always been a much better as a babyface for me. He's still very good playing the underdog, unfortunately a couple years ago they decided to crank the level up to pathetic loser who loses. Hopefully he's a face when reappears but not a sad sack bitch.

Ziggler losing to Miz and Miz cutting a promo about what a failure Dolph is after the match was one of the most "WTF?" things I've seen, considering just a month or two before Ziggler was hugely over in that No Mercy match.

Yeah they had a real shot in 2014 but they squandered it and he never recovered. It’s why I don’t understand why people knock him. He took a stupid ass name and a gimmick that had no business getting over and turned it into something that could have been a main eventer if the company gave a shit about him. He’s probably underrated at this point, though I’ll agree his chance of ever being a top star is basically done. I think a story similar to Kofi's could work with Dolph, though probably not to the same degree since there's so much built up ill-will that would have to be undone first. WWE have made it crystal clear where they think he slots in, though. 6th guy in the Elimination Chamber is probably his ceiling at this point.

Ambrose hit the same beats in their feud as well. Like, have a guy get called a loser by some douchey heel once or twice and we'll pull for him. When everbody calls him a loser and then he goes on to lose continuously, no one cares. If it's a "famous jobber" type like Horowitz or Hawkins it works, when it's a well established guy with a list of impressive accomplishments it's just lame and feels like a waste of time.

As a fan of his work; reverse time back 3-4 years and actually use his momentum.

Change his theme. Even a Creed ripoff would be better...or just his Perfection theme.

Him being someone else.
His only claim to anything was being "the guy who steals the show", which may have been true for a brief period when he was bumping like crazy to make someone look really good. But there are much better workers than him on the roster, who put on much better matches on a regular basis.
Ziggler is a relic from an era of the WWE that never quite happened.

I suppose you can give him a storyline of the veteran trying to either make one final run to the top, or call it a career. I have no interest in seeing it, as he had his run and there is too much new talent that deserves TV time instead.
But the answer is simple, yet they always seemed to botch it or change plans: Have him win feuds.

Nothing.
He's a midcard guy best used to make others look good by overselling their offence.

He needs to change his in ring style at least a little bit. They always go on about his amateur wrestling skills. Try using that more often in his aresenal.

I honestly think Ziggler is so played out at the moment that the Kofi story arc leading to Mania would not have worked for Dolph. And that was a damn near perfect arc that they could have used for a lot of other wrestlers and got that same result Kofi did.

I don’t think he will ever recover from “the success of a failure” vignette done on his hometown in front of his family. The Solomonster described Dolph as someone who was going to shoot himself in the middle of the promo.

I think he would need the WWE roster to go back to the state it was in in 2011 for us to all think of him as The Dude again. Compared to all those OVW fools he looked like the shit, but with today’s roster it’s not happening.

Bleach the hair and go back to his old shorts look.

I know the WWE doesn't go this route, but put the guy in a mask. Not the "is he or isn't he" Mr. America/Midnight Rider gimmick but to help totally erase his old persona. Time away to make people forget, new gear new moves and then he has a chance. Realistically, this isn't going to happen.
I doubt AEW would hire him btw unless they use him to put their stars over. How would you escape the obvious "he loses in WWE and beats the AEW talent therefore AEW is inferior" comparison?
