Longest match at WrestleMania 35. Got the most elaborate entrance of the night. Simultaneous comeback and (claimed) retirement match for a beloved actor who's about to feature in one of the biggest movies of all time. Rooted in getting revenge for a betrayal and savage beating of one of the biggest stars in wrestling history on his birthday.
And... Nobody but Triple H seemed to at all care about Ric Flair getting hurt, including his own daughter. Not that it mattered anyway because in just a few weeks Ric was perfectly fine to swing by and help him win like nothing happened. Crowd was mostly dead for it due to pretty much coming at the dead center of the, "This show's too long, can we go back to our hotels now?" period of the show. Batista announcing his retirement afterward was treated with no pomp at all and I'm not entirely sure WWE has even acknowledged it. Only one spot from the match is even kinda-sorta remembered under a week later. Triple H didn't even bother showing up on Raw.
Like, it kind of floors you just how utterly pointless this entire thing was when you stop and think about it.

I was cool with it. Would I have liked it to be like 5 minutes shorter? Sure, but I thought it was fun and felt suitably big for 'Mania.

It was a chance for Batista to leave after a match instead of waving goodbye like a jerk. Certainly more dignified.
Is two 50 year olds, one who wrestles once or twice a year and one who seemingly retired a coupled years ago.

I know it was the match Batista wanted but I'd have much preferred him to come back and put a young guy over.
The match dragged for me. There were some cool spots such as the one with the nose ring. But I'm just not a fan of Triple H matches full stop. Cole's "How cool was that" after his Mad max entrance made me facepalm.

Not gonna lie, I completely FF'd throught it. It would take an act of god for me to watch a Trips WM match again. As amazing as he is behind the scenes with NXT, he is the inverse of that in the ring and as a performer anymore.

This is kinda like the WM29 match of Brock vs HHH that was a "big match" that was somehow highly forgettable in the grand scheme of things. Their original match at Summerslam 2012 was remembered for being the main event and for Brock breaking HHH's arm and all that, but then the rematch was basically 'certainly a thing that happened' and that's about it.

I'm glad Batista got to come back and leave on his terms, but this match didn't matter to me at all, I didn't watch it and honestly have no intentions of watching it.

Just have a straight up fight with someone. It's why I love his match with Taker at WM27. They just clobber each other. |

It was a heel vs heel match featuring two big slow useless hosses, who are also both douchebags in real life, who were never that popular even in their prime, from an era that nobody remembers fondly. I don't know who could have possibly cared about this.

I can understand not being particular excited for their Mania 35 match up... but like every other part of this post is so laughably wrong, that I’ve sat her for 10 minutes trying to figure out where to start processing it, and it’s not even 50 words long. *deep breath* Heel vs Heel; In story HHH was clearly face defending his friend from the arrogant, bitter heel who attacked a 70 year old man in Batista. In crowd response, Dave was crazy over and HHH always gets a response. It’s as accurate to call it Face vs Face as it was Heel vs Heel. Big Slow Useless Hosses; HHH has slowed down but has still pulled out great matches against Bryan and Ambrose recently, with a good collection of matches against HBK, Taker, Austin, The Rock, Mick Foley, Cena and Batista himself to name a few. Batista in his prime had great explosiveness and got great matches out of Cena, Bryan/Orton, Eddie Guerrero, Undertaker, HHH and both Shied vs Evolution matches. Douchebags in real life; Good to know you’ve met them personally. You hear as many positives about those two as you do negative, and a lot of beloved wrestlers had primadonna attitudes. Also real life attitude doesn’t translate to the crowd reactions; see Hogan at that same Mania, or Austin whenever he shows up. Never popular in their prime?
