What sports traditions you don't agree with?
This could range from teams to just the general sport
In regards to a team, the Yankees with the facial hair ban. I think that shit needs to go. Up until they got Burnett they made everyone cover their tattoos as well but yeah I feel the no facial hair and no long hair rule to be "played out" by this point

The Yankees' facial hair ban should've died with George.

Hitters being drilled with a pitch, because they dared to show emotion.

Most unwritten rules in baseball are bullshit. Some others need context, but they are mostly bullshit. I would only agree on stuff like "no bunting or stealing if you're winning by 7+ runs" because yeah, but then there's situations like the WBC in which the number of runs scored can play a huge role if a team goes to the next phase or not so those "rules" should be lifted there (this stems from watching Mexico/Canada at one of the last WBCs and Mexico's 3rd baseman telling his pitcher to bean the next batter because the previous Canadian batter dared to get a hit with a bunt. And we were talking about the catcher).
The "throw the ball outside because someone is injured" in football can also go take a hike with so many teams and players abusing it. Unless the ref stops the match, keep playing.

Yeah, the hitting batters who bat flip or watch a home run is stupid. The only sport where if you do something good, it can be retaliated against with assault or attempted murder.
I do agree though if, for example, last year, Tony Rizzo did a very unnecessary slide into home, which hurt the Pirates catcher, Elias Diaz. It was a dirty play, and of course, Joe tried to blame everybody else.
Rizzo could have taken one in the back, but the Pirates did nothing. Not even in the next game or games later in the season. You take out a player with a dirty play, you can get plunked. Just don't throw at their head.
Also, these high school basketball games with scores of like 20-14, because they just want to keep the ball away from the other team. Put in a shot clock. Stop being pussies.

A lot of the unwritten rules of baseball.
-The 'code' in hockey is a load of horseshit.

A lot of unwritten rules in baseball are bullshit but as said some you can see why it is an unwritten rule
Stuff like bunting when a pitcher is throwing a no hitter or pefect game is game because at the end of the day I don't want to be part of history but I can see the pitcher side too
Also I have no problem with bat flips but some guys like Joey Bats def did that shit with more intent than to celebrate. He is a guy who did try to show up pitchers and teams sometimes

I want to say it was Rickey Henderson who got beaned, then stole 2nd, 3rd, and home.
But if you hit me for celebrating a HR, then if you strike me out, I get to throw my bat at you.

In rugby going for a beer with the other team after a game.
You f***ers just beat the shit and gave each other CTE, you don’t get to buddy up later.

Agreed. Of the many reasons I loathe the Yankees this is near the top. Just once I'd love to see a player call them out on it. I mean if Aaron Judge came off the IL with a Luke Harper like beard would the Yankees really bench him? As for the Red Sox it's time for Sweet Caroline to go. It's the baseball version of Fandangoing, it was funny in the beginning but really lost it's appeal once the Red Sox started pushing it. And when they're losing by 5 runs in the 8th I really don't want to play sing along.

Pitchers can show emotion, but batters cannot. I would have loved to see Yordano or MadBum get some chin music for their double standards. Trying to hurt a guy because you got your feelies hurt needs to be banned frok baseball harder than Pete Rose.
Also, get rid of that tradition of keeping Pete Rose out of the HOF.

I think if you get intentionally thrown at as a hitter, you should have free reign to charge the mound with your bat and get one free swing in to any part of the body except the head or groin. That shit will stop real fast.

More so a player has to show up with it and just say fine me because that's what the Yankees have done in the past
I know if it was me, I get tradition and all that but nah this isn't the 40s and 50s anymore. I get wanting a "corporate image" but even corporate has changed
They need a crazy person to just come in and say f*** it. Burnett refused to cover up his tats and eventually that rule went away quietly

Also, get rid of that tradition of keeping Pete Rose out of the HOF. Pete agreed to the lifetime ban, and only came clean to sell his book. He'll get in after he dies, but the agreeing to the ban and only coming clean to make some money, guarantees he'll never be enshrined while he's alive.

Baseball people take the a lifetime ban more seriously than courts take a lifetime sentence for ungodly crimes (like the ones John Wetteland is accused of, and who got HOF votes). It seems incredibly silly. I mean, you have to ban him from baseball when he's still managing when they're finding out he bet on baseball. But 30-40 years later, when his legacy has been irreparably damaged, I don't see the big deal in letting him in the Hall. Especially if he's going in posthumously.

And that's where the only coming clean to sell a book, comes in. That pissed off a lot of people, including Rose supporters. Had he done an interview where he admitted to it, and didn't have a book to sell, there's the chance they'd let him in. But he came clean and admitted it, only to make more money.

Rose has been a whore for money since he retired. That's why we have him getting tombstoned by Kane, or why he got kicked out card conventions for trying to hock his signature that nobody wants anymore. It's pretty sad. Roger Clemens lied to CONGRESS about steroids and he still deserves to be in the Hall. And he's an even bigger douche than Rose. I'd much rather discuss the merits of HOF careers and not microanalyze moral gray areas. But that's self-important BWAA for ya, so that's the reality we would live in regardless of if they let people vote for him or not.
