Luigi the janitor? I guess that's still better than being called Green Mario.
Also, it sounds like the Super Mario Bros Super Show may have evolved from this concept.
Also, California Games? Why not Skate or Die? At least those games had actual characters.

Out of all the other late 80s video games you could make a cartoon from, I never would have expected California Games. Also, interesting that it would have been tied with a Nintendo show, even if C. Games was originally a C64 game and showed up on ALL the home computers back in the day (even getting on the Master System & Genesis).

LOL that f***ing Metroid art. Like, is that a pink, bug Chozo that dude is shooting? I love how they went out of their way to make a helmet that you can see the protagonist's face in while the rest of the suit is on point, then made it a completely different person than the games. That's a Zebesian. the fact that this came out before their first appearance means they likely only had concept art it's not bad. It's actually a REALLY accurate to Metroid... except for the one BLATANTLY OBVIOUS part that is horribly inaccurate. These are strange how some of them are really accurate... some like Castlevania are massively inaccurate... and then Metroid... which is both.

Considering these came out around the time of the Mario Bros. 3 show the SNES console didn't even exist yet. I kinda doubt there was Super Metroid concept art to even work from.

Super Nintendo came out in 1990 in Japan. mario 3 in America (which I am assuming these would be based on) is early 1990 Super Metroid though did not fully enter production till 1991... It could also have been rejected conepts for Metroid 1 or 2 or could have been also used in the multiple Metroid comics at the time... (for instance Samus's first blonde appearance was in a comic... where she was also wearing a similar outfit to the Zero Suit before that was a thing.) the fact that the design is still pretty close to what they ended up using makes me think there must have been some prior existence of the Zebesians for them to work off of.

I can see California Games being one, since this was the decade of the Surfer Dude character really being seen in a lot of media. Los Angeles and Beverly Hills especially had some glamour attached to them as well.

Yeah, I think you could pretty easily throw together a show based on it, probably not unlike a Rocket Power kind of thing, though that was Hawaii, wasn't it? So, some tweaks, and there you go.
