Does look pretty good, and it's good to see this thing being acknowledged to exist again, though the style of gameplay they're going with makes me a lot more inclined to just play the original.

I hope some of those voiceovers are placeholders, because they're pretty rough. Sephiroth also sounds nothing like George Newbern, who's played him in every English role except for the first Kingdom Hearts.

Okay, it looks amazing. A faithful update of the original visuals.

But I have a couple of reservations -
1. I don't know how a storyline that I thought was incredible and dramatic when I was sixteen won't come off as melodramatic and overwrought, now.
2. Those voice actors were... not good. Barrett sounded like an offensive stereotype, Aeris was too cutesy, and the bit of Sephiroth we heard was very bland.

No doubt THAT scene will be twice as sad and impactful in PS4 era rendering, instead of little block people without mouths.

From what I gather they're reusing the same voice cast as Advent Children. So unless that's a placeholder, that is George Newbern.

I’m also talking about Cloud holding Aries in his arms, that used block people. It’s going to mess me up in next-gen.

So at the (highly controversial) Final Fantasy VII concert, they actually announced the release date for the game.

March 3rd 2020.
