I still don't know how people felt bored with the combat

I can see it being boring on Easy or Classic, but I don't think the game really lets you get bored with the combat on Normal and Hard. J

J The game without question is meant to be played on Normal Easy and Classic take all the strategy out the game If you want the ultimate experience, you go for hard mode where you really have to buckle down and use ATB to its fullest extent

Yeah, I'm waiting a bit (ie playing Persona 5 Royal) until I do my hard run. I'm sure I'll be throwing my controller at the end, especially the highway scene

Is there actually a method to being able to use Summon Materia or is it random chance the prompt comes up during a fight or something?

Summon materia has its own slot not connected to your weapon and armor materia It will come up at "random" essentially tho always pops up during boss fights after a few mins. When doing arena battles it will also pop up there I have heard if you take too long for regular fights it will pop up but I haven't experienced that

Just finished earlier this afternoon. There were a couple of sections that made me want to throw my controller and some of the latter chapters are a bit too "boss rush"-y for my liking, but taken as a whole the game is a goddamn masterpiece.

Currently on chapter 17 and I'm really digging how they've differentiated the actual mission from the original. Also... {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}I love how the boss Hojo summons looks like a damn Resident Evil monster

I am getting close to Shinra and Im guessing the endgame.
It has been ok. But it has also lacked something to get me properly involved, like I find it easy to stop playing or in no rush to get home and play.
I cant place why I feel that about it.

I still don't know how people felt bored with the combat Classic is basically Squenix once again going to the "game plays itself" well they seem uniquely obsessed with. So on that count yeah I totally can see why people would think it's boring. I changed my mind and gave the game a spin. I'm liking it so far. I'm treating it as more of a companion piece, which makes it a bit more enjoyable. One minor nitpick is that it's REALLY obvious Squenix spared no expense making Cloud and company look great but didn't put half the effort into minor npcs. There s times where I feel like I'm talking to a plastic dummy.

Add on things like some textures in the city and things like doors looking like trash too. I’m not usually one to even pay attention to textures but if I notice the difference, that means it’s bad

I realised my problem, needless padding
For every expansion like Jessies Job or fighting Reno and Rude or bonding more with Tifa that add to the game, theres annoying padding like the train graveyard and the sewers and the thing that steals corneos key, the sunlamps... that arent fun and add nothing.
Chasing the monster that got Corneos key through the sewers was just annoying shit.
Plus bad side quests. Midgar is great. We could have learned about the politics of Midgar, SOLDIER, Barret and Marlene etc, instead we got fetch quests, finding cats and injured chocobos.
I'm on Chapter 14 and just rushing through now.

With you on most of that. I will say though, that I did enjoy the side-quests. Kind of like those slice of life quests, sure some were just go here and kill this, but I dug seeing the smaller parts of Midgar, felt more lived in to me. But yeah, the sewers (when has there EVER been a good sewer level?) and the train graveyard were annoying. I think I could have like the train section if it was placed differently in the timeline, but the urgency of that current situation sandwiched between the graveyard made it hard to get invested in the storyline of that section.

Knowing how to play defensively is an absolute must on Hard Mode, since you can't use items and have to be smart with your MP use.

Another bit I hate. Getting the keycard witj Tifa.
Slowly moving across monkey bars with bad controls and slowly jumping from platforms for 15 minutes is not fun.
Why is this in the game?

Exploring Shinra HQ was probably my favorite moment in the entire game.
I’m planning on streaming Hard Mode when I get out of work, today. Is Hard Mode essentially the New Game+?
