Have fun after you paid him..until last year Ford missed significant time in every season....he is also a horrid run defender and you are going to line him up with his hand down and he weighs 235lbs...we dropped him because he was not a fit for a 4-3. Other than the year he played 6 (two seasons ago), it was 16, 14, 15 & 16. Is health really a concern? Alot of those games are games where he played 3 plays and left the game...he has also had a back surgery, which well we know how that goes. I'm just saying you are putting a light dude that doesn't defend the run well and has been a OLB, as a down end...he has never been productive until well his contract year. He just screams "will never do that again"

Is he going to take Tedy Bruschi's job? Unless Tedy Bruschi does college football, then no.

I think the Chiefs' pass rush took a serious step back this offseason. Sure, Clark has a history of being productive, but he simply is not going to replace the production of both Ford and Houston. Honey Badger is fine, but I think their coverage unit still took a hit this offseason too. You're going off names more than production..... Ford is a one trick pony, and Houston has become injury prone and honestly plays hard about half the time. Clark is a better player than both of them today. Also I dunno how their coverage is worse when Eric Berry never played and their FS was terrible, Mathieu and Thornhill are a massive upgrade and at CB they're at worst the same. To argue that defense is worse is honestly kind of baffling, they lost an aging pass rusher and a guy who had 1 good year and replaced him with 1 of the 5 best ends in the game. And to just argue it's Andy Reid is sad, guy is a HOF coach, there is no team that has the offensive speed of the Chiefs, dismiss them though, I hope everyone does. Dude, you are the Chiefs fan. Why do I have to tell you how well certain players played for your team last year? For the record, I WAS going by stats. Last season Houston and Ford combined for 22 sacks while Clark had 13. Bear in mind, both Ford and Houston lost a lot of pass rush snaps because they both had to drop back into coverage as 3-4 OLBs rather frequently while Clark rarely did as a 4-3 DE. BTW, if you think Houston was goofing off, you really did not pay attention. Over the last two seasons he had 18.5 sacks in 27 games (0.685/game) while Clark had 22 in 32 games (0.687/game). They were equally productive as far as sacks go, but according to PFF Houston was actually more productive in creating QB pressures than most of the league when he was not dropping back into coverage.

Also those numbers are skewed because Ford played 300 more snaps than Clark did.
Anyway with the switch to a 4-3 and with the stupid money some of those guys were making for their production it was time for a change. I know you're a Colts fan and you can have fun with Houston, when he wants to turn it on he can be good, it just seems that it isn't all the time.
But I hope you guys do figure out something to do on defense that isn't cover 2 since winning with that scheme is hard now, your division sure because those QB's are scrubs and can't beat it..playoffs not so much.

Actually, the Chiefs are switching to a hybrid 4-3, which means that they still will be doing 3-4 at times like the Patriots do. It makes sense as it is hard to do a complete switch when you built up your personnel for a 3-4, but that still can be an issue moving forward. As far as the Colts go, part of the reason for the Cover 2 was the fact that they did not have a great option for SAM linebacker. Last year two 7th rd picks battled for the spot, so it just did not get used much. This year, they actually have multiple options. Banogu was drafted to be a SAM, but they like him better at DE (though that is a crowded spot right now). Okereke might play SAM, especially if Walker keeps his spot at the MIKE spot. Adams, the incumbent, still is on the team and EJ Speed looks to be a back up for all 3 spots, though primarily at WILL behind Leonard. As far as Houston goes, I don't worry about effort. Every starter on the DL is going to be on a pitch count, with none of them taking more than 60-65% of the snaps at most. Houston might even take fewer than that as he has two capable youngsters, Banogu and Turay, that the team wants to give snaps to as well. They also might still have Tyquan Lewis, who took over as starter in that spot last season, take some snaps at that spot as well, though he likely will play all 4 spots along the line at different points in the game. Long story made short, now that they shored up the LBs and DBs in this offseason, expect the DL to be going full tilt as no one will take enough snaps to get gassed.

I doubt you are going to see much 3-4 out of the Chiefs, they have ditched basically all of their stand up pass rushers and remolded the front 7.
You don't go grab Frank Clark and Alex Okafor, use a top 3 round pick on a DT and then trade for Darron Lee to play 3-4, none of them fit it.
I think CB is an issue for the Chiefs and LB could be, I think DL and safety wise they should look better.

Spags is a 4-3 guy with lots of blitz packages, especially coming from the secondary. He also really likes using Defensive Ends.
And unless you have guys that have played under Spags before, the defense is going to be godawful the first few games until they get used to his coaching philosophy.

I'm kind of curious if Spags scheme is going to be somewhat different, he had this big discussion he went on about how in his year off he studied a ton of college spread stuff to alter his scheme to be able to handle it because the NFL is doing it now.
But anyhow that whole coaching staff on that side is new so we'll see what happens but the DL coach and LB coach come with high praise so hopefully it works.

Jalen Ramsey reminding me why I hate him. *sigh* He has two years left on his contract. Next year he makes $13M. Sure, he would make more if he was a UFA right now, but that still is a decent payday. One would prefer that a player focus a little more on deserving more money when his contract is up. That is not to say that it would be bad to renegotiate his contract to pay him market value, but his team can't do that. They don't have the cap space to give him what he wants. They will make him wait without hesitation because they do not have a choice, which makes his antics just annoying.

Yea I mean they're busy pissing off Ngawkwe, or however you spell that. Yannick Ngakoue was in talks to be the 4th highest paid DE in the NFL when talks dissolved. I wonder what happened. Then again, they actually fined Telvin Smith for not reporting to camp before placing him on the Reserve/retired list. It is not as though he let them know this morning, so that seems kind of spiteful. Here I thought it was the Texans that did not have a GM to steer the ship. Wait....did the Jags hire Ryan Grigson without me noticing it? Petty things like that is right up his wheelhouse.

I wanted to add this for the Hill issue......
鈥淛ust think about how bad the optics of this are," Terez Paylor told @sportsreiter. "Think about how the #NFL, despite those optics, decided not to punish him. That probably means the evidence was pretty strong."

Packers released Mike Daniels and now 7 teams have interest in him. Some in the media are pushing for the Colts to be one of those teams. I don't know if that is really the case, but if it does happen it will be a 1 yr prove it deal that probably pays him well. Having said that, the only reason to do that is if the team has decided that Grover Stewart will not develop enough for that role. Cutting the roster down to 53 will be hard enough as some talented players will have to get cut (which is a nice problem to have, mind you). Adding a veteran will only make that worse.

They had the videotape of the Ray Rice incident for months without doing anything about it. He actually was indicted of the assault, making it an official matter of law, and they did nothing. They only dropped the hammer on him when the footage started going viral months after his indictment.

Sure, but I think the point he's making is, in the public this story looks terrible, everyone wants him suspended, so for him not to be means he had to supply some type strong evidence or he'd be looking at what Jarran Reed got you'd think.
