Thereโs a rumor going around that thereโs going to be a big exposรฉ in the Washington Post in the next two days about the Washington NFL team, and itโs allegedly going to have some explosive revelations. Iโm seeing people talking about sexual abuse, drugs, alcohol, sex parties, the cheerleaders being pimped out and doing nude photo shoots, etc. Jay Gruden specifically is being mentioned for some misdeeds. I donโt know how legit it is, but the story is getting passed around enough now that Pat McAfee has posted about it. Didn't their play-by-play guy conveniently "retire" today? Wonder if he was involved or if he knew shit was going to hit the fan so he got out of there as quick as he could.

His retirement was described as โrats leaving a sinking shipโ.

The Chiefs aren't the Patriots..in the fact that both Mahomes and Jones took less than they could have gotten. The Chiefs value their players and pay them, they also promote the individuals on the team. The Patriots don't care about players being themselves or having fun or really even paying them..dudes like playing for the Chiefs, you can win and not act like a Machiavellian dick to do it. I got too caught up in the excitement of "the Patriots don't care about players being themselves or having fun" to notice it, but I just caught the claim about how the Patriots don't care about "really even paying them." I don't even know where to begin with this. It's a salary-capped league, it's not a charity. Are the Patriots supposed to look at the overpayments that some of their free agents receive on the open market and match or exceed them simply because they wore Patriots uniforms? Is Bill Belichick's heart supposed to grow three sizes because Trent Brown got $66 million from the Raiders, Trey Flowers got $90 million from the Lions, or Nate Solder landed $62 million from the Giants? They pay the players they pay and they let the free agents walk who they feel aren't worth overpaying for. That's why Malcolm Butler walked to Tennessee for $61 million the year after they signed Stephon Gilmore for $65 million, which was the year after Logan Ryan departed for the Titans for $30 million. It's also worth noting that most of those deals, Soldier and Butler especially, have been absolutely terrible in hindsight. Soldier has turned into a parking cone and Butler gets roasted more than Snoop Dogg. But yeah, the Patriots really missed the boat on not paying them

But the thing is, the Chiefs didn't overpay for either of those players.....if anything Mahomes, Jones and even Tyreek Hill are making less than they could have gotten.

With all the rumors flying out of DC, wonder if the NFL is going to end up running this team for a brief moment to "clean it up and start over fresh"

It's not an issue of who is better or not. It's an issue of throwing psychotically bad contracts around when there's a lot still up in the air in terms of whether fans, which still consist of a good chunk of NFL revenue, are gonna be able to show up, if there's even a season at all for the teams to get any money from. It doesn't matter if it's Chris Jones, DeForest Buckner, or some utterly awful player I can't think of on a terrible team, there is simply no good reason to be tossing money around willy-nilly right now.

The stuff starting to flow out of Washington is so crazy... if you made a show about it people would be like "naw that's unbelievable"
If half this stuff is true the team is going to be forced to sell.

The thing is though the Chiefs have 4 cornerstone players, Mahomes, Hill, Clark and Jones...with Kelce and Mathieu having contract decisions after this coming year...other than that most everyone is on a contract that is expiring or a cut pretty soon. The Chiefs are not a team that has no cap room or doesn't know what it's doing.

As a long time Washington fan, it is absolutely disheartening how much the team has fallen off over the years. The Daniel Snyder era has been so embarrassing. Heโs the worst owner in sports besides James Dolan. If even half of these allegations are true, heโs done as owner.

Apparently the minority ownership group in Washington has hired an investment bank to sell their stake in the team
