Kelce is going to be 31 this season. Logic would dictate a tight end in his 30s should start slowing down. There鈥檚 certainly exceptions to the rule but that鈥檚 a tough position. Hell, Gronk fell off at 29. And I'm trying to think of the last TE who was playing at a psycho high level after 30 and I can't think of one. According to Pro Football Reference, Travis Kelce's top three career comparisons are Todd Christensen, Kellen Winslow Sr., and Rob Gronkowski. Christensen was out of the NFL by 33, Winslow Sr. retired after turning 30, and Gronkowski is giving it another try after retiring at 29 following a subpar (by his standards) 2018 season. I think it's not unreasonable for Kelce's 30's to play out like Jimmy Graham's. Graham, like Kelce, was out-of-this-world in his 20s, hauling in 434 catches, 5,357 yards, and 53 touchdowns over six seasons with the Saints and Packers. But since turning 30, Graham has been a serviceable, if unremarkable, tight end for Seattle and Green Bay, averaging 54 catches, 631 yards, and five touchdowns per season over the last four years. If Kelce can still offer up that kind of production in his mid-30s, I think Chiefs fans will be doing cartwheels, even if it's a massive overpayment for that kind of production.

Didn鈥檛 Graham shred his knee before his decline? As far as I鈥檓 aware, Kelce has been relatively major injury free.

That's not exactly a fair comparison, Grahams production dropped significantly when the Saints traded him to Seattle, Kelce isn't switching schemes or QB's etc. On top of that Graham tore his Patella tendon which is an awful injury. Kelce also gets something that works in his favor other than Mahomes, the speed that plays at WR around him means he's going to see soft middle a lot and he knows how to sit in the holes of a zone. Even when he loses his big play ability at some point he will likely still be a nice contributor as a chain mover.

Niners third round pick a year ago Jalen Hurd is out for the year with a torn ACL. A year after missing the season with a stress fractured back. I鈥檓 gonna go out on a limb and say they鈥檙e not going to get a return on that investment.
Shame. He was an intruiging prospect who would have been y鈥檃ll enough to catch Jimmy鈥檚 airmail.

Conflicted feeling here. He was always better than billed, but rarely gets to catch a damned break. Drafted to an ass team that gave him a new system to learn every single year for ages, gets hurt and his backup does well enough to get him traded, does well but the team lucks out on drafting the next great young QB so he gets traded again, then suffers a freak injury. I don't know if Haskins has more upside than Smith, but I doubt he can beat out a rusty Smith in an open competition for the job. The team either needs to move Smith, move Haskins, or bench Smith for the sake of Haskins' development.

I want to see Alex Smith win games again. He's earned it.

www.patriots.com/news/no-fans-at-gillette-stadium-through-septemberThe New England Patriots just announced that their first two home games of the season (week one against Miami and week three against Las Vegas) will be played in an empty Gillette Stadium. The team had announced earlier this summer that their hope was to play in front of 20 percent capacity, which could still be possible for the team's remaining six home games from October through January.

Las Vegas built a billion dollar stadium and nobody can go sit in it for at least a year.
Money well spent.

The Chargers players would probably welcome empty stadium games. That way they don't have to play 16 games in front of crowds mainly favoring their opponents.

Apparently Trent Williams has been an absolute monster in training camp and is eating Nick Bosa alive.
The Niners lost Joe Staley and managed to upgrade. Amazing.
Too bad the quarterback is still shitty. Handsome though!
