Things Have Only Gotten Worse Since the McMahon Apology

Fans stopped tuning in because of a lack of interesting storylines, 50/50 booking, the product looking stale, and titles being meaningless (too many of them/the champions losing most of the time).

In response to this, we got:

-random call-ups who are not being developed at all and are wrestling without any real story behind their matches.

-An end to the brand split, which has flooded each brand with even more titles

-A creation of another title

-The same 50/50 booking

-Nearly every champion still has a losing record in non-title matches

So they acknowledged there was some issue, but instead of doing any research into what the problems were, they pretty much just guessed and gave solutions that had nothing to do with why everyone stopped watching in the first place

It was a pre-emptive apology for what was still to come.

No storylines.
No characters.
No consistency.
Evil authority figures continue to run amok.

The only thing that's stayed the same or improved is the actual in-ring performances and a few fan favorites are getting pushed a little.

I'd agree with all this though I thought last nights show was one of the best this year...which is not saying much, but still an improvement.

It was a meaningless ratings stunt to try and avoid Raw going under and I've been doing the "I told you so" dance for months now. None of the show's structural issues were addressed at all and it's pitifully clear they didn't even think Baron Corbin as the show's main character was an issue because that never f***ing went away. Nothing can be meaningfully different as long as Vince is running it, that's just kind of the reality.

It was the false promise they always make when things get bad and nothing has changed and they have gone back to the same things.

Tell us things will be different
Tell us about shaking things up
Tell us things we are already aware of to create false hope by showing us they are aware of the problems which means things will change

This has always been my biggest worrie for this company they would get so complacent and things would get so bad that nothing short of a giant overhaul of everything will be able to mend the issues and that is where the company is finding itself now , putting a title on this guy , pushing these people are band aids now and no longer solutions.

Vince has no idea how to fix the issues because he's completely out of touch and everything passed him by a long time ago. And you know what? Understandable. It happens.

What's inexcusable is not allowing any new voices to be heard and micromanaging your writers and performers with a fine-tooth comb. It almost feels like some kind of paranoia, like if he doesn't have absolute control over everything it'll all slip away from him.

It is mind-boggling how badly they're handling this.

I remember Vince saying in like late 2015 (I think it was the infamous Stone Cold podcast episode) about how Raw had this phenomenal exciting moment that really shows them firing on all cylinders...and it was a basic-ass brawl with Big Show leading into a 6 man tag, the same segment they'd done like 5 times in the weeks before but this time it was at the end of the show instead of the beginning. And it just showed me like THIS is WWE trying to improve and it's still a disaster snoozefest.

I like this post.  I think people sometimes unfairly attack Vince for being out of touch, but he is 73 years old.  No one should expect him to be current.  I am 32 and when I listen to my 12 year old talk to her friends, I realize just how out of touch I am as well.  It is to be expected as one grows older.  The problem is that Vince McMahon refuses to acknowledge that he is out of touch and needs to empower younger minds to help modernize his product.

There’s a reason most companies with an older CEO in charge let younger people run different divisions in the company or at least people who know how to get the best from others.

Vince I guess has people in other positions but outside of Network and YouTube stuff, none of them really have control of much. Hell, talent relations and development might as well be a completely different company.
